The staff were doing a great job keeping things running smoothly as possible. Some decisions by the bosses were horrible (see luggage tag issue). We had some weather issues that affected excursions, no one to blame there, though some operators should have cancelled some. My last IMPORTANT point, no where else to put it, guests need to behave as if they are guests in each others homes. We saw the worst bunch of rude cruisers ever on this cruise. Take note Virginia, many guests were blaming the rudeness on Virginians as they were the largest group.
Embarkation

Norfolk terminal is not designed for ships/crowds this size. Steep, multi-flight stairs or the choice of 2 elevators just to get in the building does not work.

Food and Dining

Main dining rooms were fine. Buffets were hit or miss, mostly miss.
Onboard Activities

Nothing said to me, "this you gotta try", so I didn't.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
I enjoyed all the shows, sadly one of the main theater shows was cancelled for technical reasons, whatever that was.
Children's Programs
no kids
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Vast majority of staff were very courteous and helpful. I think there was a shortage of bartenders. On my first visit to the comedy club bar I was unable to get service.
Ship Quality

The layout was good. Unfortunately, I found myself hitting dead ends quite often because staff would block off access to random areas at random times for no apparent reason.
Cabin / Stateroom

Somewhat small. Steward kept it very clean. Issues were promptly addressed though there were more on this cruise than any I've had before. TV stopped working, balcony was pressure washed one afternoon in a port and the light fixture was shorted out causing an arcing noise all night, bathroom sink had a 5-6 inch crack in it about halfway up the side. The sink could not be fixed until she goes in for repairs, but it didn't cause us any secondary issues.
1.Carnival placed luggage tags on a pegboard display for those that needed their luggage removed by staff. This created an opportunity for greed to rule the day. All the tags were quickly snatched up leaving handicapped, elderly, those with kids without any recourse other than to tote all their belongings off themselves.
I live fifteen minutes from the port and have cruised numerous times out of Norfolk. Two more scheduled, June and October. First I apologize for my fellow cruises from my State. Second you are 100% right, for some reason the people from our area are extremely rude. Must be something in the water. We only sail from Norfolk out of convenience.
Thank you for taking the time to share your cruise with us. Glad that overall you enjoyed your cruise. I have noticed small batches of rude people on every cruise I have taken, but steered clear as I won't let someone else ruin my cruise if I can help it. The Magic is old but she is still me favorite ship.
Appreciate your feedback. Itβs sad that many people forget their manners when on vacation. It seems to be worse now than ever. Glad you managed to enjoy your cruise in spite of it.
