Overall, This vacation was awful and not worth the nearly $3,000 that we ultimately spent. I’ve cruised with Carnival before onboard the Carnival Breeze and I highly recommend that ship over The Carnival Magic! The food was horrible and the high tides (or the frail design of an old ship) made it very difficult to walk around while sailing which made it nearly impossible to thoroughly enjoy the Cheers program. After about 2 drinks the motion of the ship and consistent rocking was enough make us click our heels and wish we were home. But at least we got some cool pictures of the water.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
The embarkation was quick and easy. The online/airport check in allowed us priority boarding and an almost instant access to the ship
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
I’m aware that the boats offer most of the same restaurants but I recently went on a cruise onboard the Carnival Breeze and the food was much better than on the Carnival Magic. It eventually got to the point where I only ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches through room service.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
We received a massage onboard which was amazing but very overpriced. Eventually the Lido deck becomes second nature and mundane because there isn’t much else to do while onboard.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The Punchliner comedy club was the highlight of the cruise. The comedians were hilarious. The other entertainment solely felt like cash grabs/ Scams.. such as Bingo and Sales at the Fun Shops.
Children's Programs
We did not cruise with any children.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Most of the Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Some work hard to help you and even remember your name and drink of choice. While others, (such as bartenders and receptionists) were almost robotic, as if they were programmed as a “thank you, come again” sort of store clerk that just looks to get you out of their space As quickly as possible.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The most frequently used areas were always clean and this eventually became a slight hazard as the floors seemed to have always just been mopped and the wet floor signs were visible but that didn’t offer my boat shoes any more traction.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
The cabin was very comfortable but not very large in size. We looked forward to having a balcony with no one above us BUT the Serenity area was directly above our cabin which lead to several awkward run-ins with other cruisers onboard. Next time, a Level 11 cloud 9 or a regular balcony stateroom will be just fine.
Horrible, Everyone there simply insisted on taking your money and wouldn’t take no for an answer. The port of call was in a horrific area and nowhere near the beach.
The port immediately welcomes you with a resort and party! There are activities readily available as soon as you walk off the ship and I’m sure that if we could’ve found the beach, it would’ve been great.
The island was amazing. There was an “all in one” excursion, I believe the Land and Sea adventure combo that only took up about half of our time there but we were able to do everything and the great news is everything you may want on vacation is right there without immediate walking distance from the ship.
All I can say is that we are going to have a awesome vacation on the Carnival Magic in February 2020, Carnival Horizon in October 2020 and looking to book another cruise in early 2021, I find it very sad when people do not enjoy their vacation for various reasons.
There is a lot less crew and other staff in relationship to the number of passengers on the Magic than there is on some of the other ships. As a result the service is going to suffer a little also there are too many people. Not a whole lot of personal space unless you hide out in your cabin.
So let's see if I understand this.....one of the reasons as to why the cruise was awful is due to the fact that rough seas caused him to not get as drunk as he would have liked 🤔
Again poster from somewhere but no cruise profile. How much was spent when the vendors would not take no for an answer. Figured a bad review when the poster blamed the high tide for making the water rough. What about the low tide ? But tides have nothing to do with conditions of the seas only the shore line.
