Extremely happy with the Carnival Magic and would love to cruise on this ship again. Had a great experience and the ports were all great. Looking forward to seeing the new itineraries out of Fort Lauderdale.
Embarkation

Had a boarding time of 12:30 and was through security in 10-15 minutes. Miami knows how to move people along.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Was pleasantly surprised by the food on Carnival, although we avoided the Lido buffet completely. Breakfast in the main dining rooms was great with a nice selection. Also enjoyed a mexican breakfast at BlueIguana Cantina and it was delicious. Took advantage of the pasta bar offered for lunch at Cucina del Capitano and the pasta was prepared perfectly al dente. Guy's Burger Joint and Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que were outstanding. For dinner, enjoyed the steakhouse and Cucina del Capitano one night and main dining the other nights. Among the four of us, we may have had one meal that was just okay while the rest were outstanding.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Took advantage at the fitness center and spa. Plenty of treadmills and some machines and dumbbells. Spa service was fantastic, although there was some up-selling they pushed. Was able to take advantage of the basketball court, mini-golf, Foosball and ropes course and all were a lot of fun.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The onboard comedian's were really funny, and they cycled two new ones halfway through the cruise which added some variety. The musicians throughout the ship were outstanding and always seemed to be playing. The nightly shows were well performed, but nothing too creative or Broadway-type shows.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Across the board, they were all extremely helpful and pleasant.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Very clean throughout, including all the bathrooms in the common areas. Every night, you'll see crews cleaning and preparing for the next day.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Was nervous about four of us in a balcony cabin - 2 adults and 2 high schoolers - but was so pleased with the layout of the room and the storage offered in the room. There were three available closets - one you would need hangers for, another that provided about a dozen hotel style hangers, and the last had 4-5 shelves. Plus a series of drawers and other spaces that made it easy for us to store all of our clothes. There is only one outlet in the room, so an extension cord and power strip are a must. Liked the fact the the king bed was right beside the balcony window - seemed to open the room up.
Ship tip
Take advantage of the chairs and hot tubs on deck 5 - away from the main pool deck crowds.
Did the damajagua waterfalls excursion. You definitely need to be in shape for the climb, and the payoff was well worth it. Bring a go pro for some amazing shots. The port terminal was great, and found this stop to have the best prices on liquor to bring home.
We've been to St Thomas a number of times. The port area has some ok shops, but nothing special. You really need to get away and enjoy the beaches, snorkeling, or Coral World.
Loved this island. Very small area and we took advantage of the Snuba experience. After, we enjoyed the beach right at that pier with some great swimming, water sports, and a lively Margaritaville with a huge pool.
I'm glad you had great time. I'm going to take the waterfall tour. Next in St. Thomas, try Marian's taxi service. That was the best tour we've ever been on.
We also loved everything about the Magic, including Mikey, the cruise director!
Some of the best food we've experienced a cruise.
It was overall one of our all-time favorite cruises.
Great review!
Next time you are in St. Thomas, check to see if "Mountain Top" is still there. View is spectacular, bar has incredible bananna daiquiris, and there were cute shops. Not sure if it survived the last storm, but worth asking.
A trip over to St. John is well worthwhile. Beautiful beaches.
