Review summary

Although the Magic needs some TLC and it wasn’t the best cruise ever, any day at sea beats a day at work!

Embarkation

Embarkation was easy- we had faster to the fun!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The main dining room was just ok for us this time. They seated us at a table for two (we hadn’t requested one), but it was in the middle of an aisle way right next to the waiters’ station. We spent the first night getting jostled. We requested a change and sat with a group around the corner. That was a little better, but this group was rude to the waiter. In the end we moved again. The steakhouse was great, wonderful food and service! Cucina was just ok- but it got us out of the dining room. Buffets were good at breakfast, but steak and eggs at seaday brunch were delicious!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I enjoyed the trivia and game type activities as always. Played Bingo several times- still haven’t won but I haven’t given up!

Entertainment

The playlist shows were pretty bad. We enjoyed all the other musicians performing all around the ship.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Service was a little off this time, especially in bars and the dining room. We changed from early to late dining and I always think the late dining service is just not as good. The bartender, Debbie, I’m the serenity area was personable, remembered names, and drink orders.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
This is my favorite ship layout, but it’s time for Magic to see dry dock. Many carpets smelled like they had been wet, a/c system didn’t seem to be keeping up. Furniture and walls are dirty and worn. It’s time for Magic to get some TLC.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The cabin was a typical balcony cabin. Plenty of room for storage for 2 and of course a beautiful view! Unfortunately, like the rest of the ship it needs some TLC. The curtain for the balcony door was filled with holes, the cabinets were all chipped, the sofa was dirty and very worn, the hydraulic arm in the bathroom was broken into two pieces. The light for the balcony didn’t work, one of the light switches at the door had been pulled out, and the bathroom flooded every time we showered. Worst of all was the a/c. We brought a fan with us but could never get cool enough. That said- we loved the location just outside and above the lido deck. Easy to get to everything we wanted to do.

Ports of call

Grand Turk Island Did not visit port

High winds prevented us from docking.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
San Juan is beautiful and full of history! Can’t wait to go back! We did a bus tour of the island and then got off and walked all over old town area.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
We visited Meghan’s bay and took the sky ride. The most beautiful island I’ve ever seen! It was like being in a post card!

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
We took the Dominican Outback excursion and visited with a local family. The people are so friendly and getting out of the tourist area was great!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very easy debarkation.
