Review summary

Overall, we had a good time and made the best of things. The pools being drained and closed for an entire day during the Belize trip when we didn't plan any excursions, did leave us with a negative customer experience. My 9yr old not being able to stay with the kids group, upset her greatly as well. No one likes to be singled out and since the 10 yr old in our group was allowed to stay, it was not fair that my 9yr old was told she was too young, esp if her older siblings were there with her. If there had been a teen party going on in the teen club that was for more 'mature' teens, I could understand but they were just hanging out playing games.

Embarkation

Embarkation was pretty good. We did have to sit and wait while there was a coast guard inspection.

Onboard Activities

We decided not to book any excursions when we went to Belize. We had planned that would be the day we hung out by the pools. let the kids have free access to the rope course and the water park. However, the rope course was closed that day as well as BOTH POOLS. This gave us a very negative customer experience. It wasn't like they were closed for just a few hours, but for the whole day. Also, on the last day of our cruise, the water slides were ALL CLOSED for the entire day. This meant all the kids were in the main pool. (I think the back pool may have been closed too.)

My older kids(14, 15) had a great time, but my 9 year old wasn't allowed to hang with them in the teen club, even though I tried to give her special permission. One of our friends had a daughter that was 10 and she was allowed to stay with the older kids. Mine was left out and was very upset by this. She tried out the kids club in her age but all they were doing was coloring a pirate picture. Luckily, I came back to check on her within 10 min so she could leave. From what I could tell in the teen club they weren't doing anything much except playing games anyway so I think if my child had older siblings there, it should be at the parents discretion if the younger one could stay or not.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Most of the service and staff was great. After hearing and seeing all our friends pics from their cruises we expected a little more from our room steward. My daughter really wanted to see more towel animals. We got about 2 for the entire 7 day trip. Roxy was great at dinner but we did feel like we were always rushing because we were never finished in time to go to the 730 show. I think they were just understaffed though and waiting on another large table next to us. One night the other table didn't have many that showed up for dinner and our dinner was super fast.

Cabin / Stateroom

We had a cabin to sleep 5. It was adequate but we think 2 rooms may be better next time. It was nice having 2 showers.

Ship tip

Be advised that at some ports they will close the pools and other activities for entire days!

This was by far our favorite. We went to Tabyanya Beach Club and the snorkeling was perfect!!!

Belize City, Belize

We went to Belize and walked around the shops but didn't plan any excursions. We were hoping the ropes course, pools, water slides wouldn't be as crowded. However, when we got back from Belize both pools were drained and the ropes course was closed for the whole day.

Cozumel, Mexico

Mr Sanchos was the best for a family of 5! We had a great time and the service was great!

I totally understand about the pool issue! That sucks. As far as the kids clubs, I get what you're saying and how u felt it wasn't fair to your daughter. But to say the rules should be bent at the discretion of the parents is kind of out there. Where in the world would they draw the line if they allowed every parent to decide what club their kids should be allowed to go to? That could lead to other issues and a lot of added chaos for the staff.

Why wouk2d you want a 9 year old in a teens club? Why not allow her to interact with children her own age?

Try a different cruise line and find your happiness. Carnival does not seem to fit your expectations.
