Review summary

I have cruised, many, many times and this was the only time that I was extremely disappointed in Carnival. I do not feel that $50 pp for compensation of missing an entire port, St. Thomas, was ample. By missing this port, they then shorted our stay at all the other ports and cancelled all of the full day excursions. We had an additional day at sea added, which disappointed us a lot. I had a group of 13 in our family for my granddaughter's high school graduation.

Embarkation

Very disorganized. I understand there was a medical emergency which meant they would be a little late. Then they had a mechanical issue and we were 6 hours leaving. So, everyone was embarking at the same time, which was a disaster, as there were still guests getting off the ship as well. We were 6 hours late leaving. We were given $15 for lunch due to late getting on the ship.

Ship tip

Be sure to check all the times for dining and the shows, as the Dive In Theatre conflicted with our early dining hour.

Very disappointed with Carnival. Due to the mechanical issue when we departed, they decided to skip St. Thomas, which was the port I wanted to see and we ended up with an additional day at sea. So they felt that by compensating us $50 pp for missing a port was enough. Then they shorted the stays at all the other ports and cancelled all the full day excursions.

Good grief, things happen, ports are missed on all lines. Carnival owes you nothing

First there was a medical emergency and they had to go to Cozumel for this. Then because they were behind they pushed the ship trying to make up time which caused the propulsion issue. I am sure NAPA doesn’t carry the part so other arrangements (missing a port had to be made). Better than canceling the whole cruise.

I read that there was a propulsion problem in addition to the medical emergency. If the missed port is due to mechanical issues I would agree that $50 is not enough. However the fine print states that they reserve the right to change, add or eliminate ports at any time. Just for future goodwill I would think Carnival would at least give you a credit towards a future cruise.

I'm not saying I agree with Carnival but if you read your contract they have the right to change or delete ports. Look under Itinerary Change Policy and under Cruise Ticket Contract Terms. 😈

I’d be disappointed to! The medical emergency isn’t the cruise lines fault but mechanical issues are. We pick our cruises based on ports, as I’m sure you did. $50 isn’t fair compensation.

Why did they skip a port ?

Ship happens!! All they had to do was compensate you port charges. Be grateful!!

Good afternoon Kastbrown, If you don't mind me asking, what was the reason they gave you for missing your port stop?
