Review summary

Faster to the fun only helped with getting on the ship and off the ship at the start and end of the trip so if you have a late flight in or out it may not be worth it. One unfriendly-rude actually-customer service rep but all other ship staff were really nice. Food was ok, have had better on previous sails but I think Carnival has changed their menu overall.  Wi-FI was a COMPLETE WASTE of money! Dinner staff was completely disorganized and extremely slow, so slow that we didnt make it out of our late dining (8:15) until after 10:30 almost every night! Steakhouse is amazing! Overall appearance of the ship and things to do were great! Housekeeping staff was friendly and did a wonderful job. Portraits werent as good as they have been in the past-we didnt get any this time. Grand Turk-watch out for stray dogs roaming the beach. We were afraid of flees, worms, etc.  We shooed them away and they left us alone.  Beach to left is better but you have to pay for first two rows of umbrellas. Beach to the right has a lot of rocks but was less crowded.  Margarittaville pool was nice but hard to get a drink served to you-took so long we gave up on it, and its hard to get an umbrella around the pool unless you get there first.  Puerto Rico-do an excursion because the shopping doesn't last long.  Nice Walgreens when you get off the boat. Dominican Republic-If you're doing the waterfall/water slide excursion-You really should get the water shoes but Carnival will sell you a water shoe rental ticket on the ship for like 8 times what you will pay at the excursion site itself.  Zip lining on St. Thomas-ziplines are not high and dont take a long time to do unless you get people in front of you that are scared-then youll be wishing it would go faster.  Overall I would recommend this cruise because the ship and the ports were nice.

Ship tip

If you get on the ship late the first day good luck finding seating to eat-lie on all ships. Wi-Fi is a waste. Not trying to sound wasteful but if you like something-order as much as you want at dinner. You need to try the Steakhouse. Seating by the pool is hard on sea days. Pig and anchor is good.

lshaggard.... when you get off the ship, the beach is right there. You can rent floats & snorkeling gear there from the little hut. You will see it there just outside of Margaritaville. I think they charged me $10 to rent a thick, heavy duty foam mat. The flo rider experience is also right there next to Margaritaville. The shopping area is also right there just off the ship. I think it's one of the cleanest cruise ports. If you really want to venture off, there was an excursion on our cruise that was glass bottom kayaking. We didn't go on that one but the other family that was with us did. They loved it. The last time we were there, we walked just outside the cruise port & found a sand buggy company where we rented those. We had a tour guide so we rode all over the island. You would have to rent 2 buggies. If you are going to do something like this, do it through the ship, especially if traveling with kids. Honestly, if it's your first time, I would spend my $$ on excursions at ports where you really don't have an option. You & the kids will most likely be happy just hanging out at the beach & Margaritaville. Also, this cruise port only accommodates 2 ships. Hope this helps!

Kimluvs2cruise, first time going to Grand Turk. Any suggestions for a family of 4, kids are 10 and 14?

Thanks for the insight. We are booked on this exact cruise in March. This will be 3rd time on Grand Turk & love it but that's because we know what to do there. We've never been to Dominican & my hubby plans on golfing in St Thomas. I will probably go to St John. Will definitely will book excursion in San Juan. Last time we just walked around since it was a short port day.
