Review summary

We loved all 4 ports of call - Amber Cove, Dominican Republic,    San Juan, US VI and Grand Turk.      HUGE free pool with swim up bar in Amber Cove right off the ship- free chairs and everything.  No one tells you this so don't spend money on an excursion if you want to enjoy this!     Same in Grand Turk - you step of the ship to an amazing beach with all free chairs, umbrella and amenities.  Margaritaville is there with huge free pools, swim up bar and other fun.    Unfortunate that this information is not conveyed and you are led to believe you need to buy expensive passes to get to an excursion at a private resort. That trip also leaves you with a nice taxi bill too since that is not included in the excursion fee.     Take advantage of both things and don't fall for the talk that excursions will sell out.  I would NOT buy any excursions through again b/c they tell you after the fact it is through a 3rd party and they will not do anything to assist you if you have issues.  Lesson learned.

OK, very small when you put out the bunks but we barely were in it so. Our cabin was well maintained by our steward. No concerns.

Ship tip

Pools are tiny and not enough for all the people. Do not purchase excursions until you see the free options off the ship. The ports of call were awesome. Our cruise direction, Dr. Reverend E, THE REV, was AWESOME!!!!! Our dining staff was awesome. We loved ANYTIME DINING option.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

It was fine - get a car to take you there to drop you off and DO THE WALK off...so easy and we were off the ship by 7:30 am by carrying our own luggage off. No waiting in holding areas with a million people with no food or drink, waiting to get off for 2 hours. That's the worst.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

Area completely built and run by Carnival. Clean and new but very commercial. Not a part of the country really but CoCo restaraunt right in the poor has nice free options for family fun.

Go to the SMOKING ROOSTER for lunch. Avoid the crappy food and rip off pricing at Señor Frogs! A tourist trap. BBQ at the Rooster place is OUT OF THIS WORLD and the drinks were phenomenal. Great family place to eat!

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Loved just walking around San Juan. Go to EL MORRO and do the tour for $6. Amazing place. All within walking distance. Amazing city. Greengos Cantina is a MUST for lunch!!!

Grand Turk Island

Enjoy the beautiful free beach with all free amenities right off the ship. Margaritaville had lots of fun for all with ginormous wrap around pools, Flow Rider surf activity, swim up bar, etc.
