7 day Alaska cruise where we visited Juneau, Skagway, Tracy Arm Fjord, Ketchikan and Victoria. Every port was breathtaking.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was a breeze. I had Faster to fun for this one so I did not encounter any problems.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
I don’t know what was going on with the food but even Sea Day brunch was off. It wasn’t all bad… mostly mediocre but… it wasn’t good either. They have changed some of the sea day brunch staples. The 12hr French toast was replaced with simple French toast. Not bad… just not sea day brunch worthy lol. They only opened one side of the buffet area at dinner, which was weird. There seem to be very few choices on the dinner buffet. This was the first cruise, for me, where I didn’t eat breakfast-snack-lunch-snack-dinner-snack LOL.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
This sailing had a naturalist onboard who gave 3 informational sessions to give us info on the wildlife and plant life indigenous to Alaska. I really enjoyed this aspect. The other activities were plentiful but I focused on these type of activities.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Par for the course with Carnival. Any of the staff members I interacted with with stellar. The cruise director, Marty, seemed very engaging.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Clean and orderly but showing its age.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The shower head fell off the wall but was repaired by the end of the day. The water pressure was very weak in the shower but VERY strong in the sink. The toilet had “Luminosa magic” 😂 per our room steward. Apparently it takes time for toilets on the Luminosa to flush. We thought something
was wrong but the steward explained that this was typical for Luminosa. The beds are hard as rocks! Lastly, the light bar along the top of the balcony door was blinking and making a loud noise. This also was quickly repaired after informing the steward. Helen our steward was very attentive to our needs.
Ship tip
The ice machines in the buffet area were down at times but they did have containers of ice to scoop. Look out for those if the machines are down.
While we were only in Victoria for a few hours, and it was dark, the beauty of the area still shone through. I need to visit again to experience more of Victoria.
