Review summary

We turned Platinum this cruise only because Carnival had no records of our earliest. We go all the way back to the original Mardi Gras. May be our last on them.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Extremely easy. Literally walked on.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Service was horrible. From the MDR to the buffets to the bar services. Food was subpar at best.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Was with friends. Did not do any onboard activities.

Entertainment

Did not go to any shows. They are all the same after 15-20 cruises.

Children's Programs

No kids

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
See above. Worst ever. A table next to us (party of 10) was turned over 2 1/2 times in the time we were served and finished. We were also a party of 10. Nothing special ordered.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Half of the cabins in the center of decks 4 & 5 reeked of an awful smell. Thank God we only had to walk thru it occasionally.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Typical cruise cabin. No issues.

Ship tip

Just don't. If it was our first cruise on Carnival it would have been our last. Alaska is a beautiful place. Just don't go on the Luminosa.

Not sure how many cruises you've been on lately, but if you want pre 2020 food and service - you need to sail on at least a premium line. All the mainstream lines have cutback on food and service
