Review summary

This was our 4th cruise and the first one with Carnival. The ship was esquisite and very clean. I appreciated the fact that they were very user friendly and didn't gouge you financially for eveything. The gift shop was always having special sales and the film developing was very reasonable. On the sail days we had our pictures developed and worked on our scrap books. By the time the cruise was over we had scrapbooked our whole vacation. The food and service were terrific. The portions at dinner were huge. The beef was always melt in your mouth tender. I have a restricted diet and really enjoyed the vegetarian selections. The staterooms were bigger than any ship I have ever been on. Our luggage stowed easily under the bed and was completely out of the way. We had plenty of closet space and having a washer, dryer and iron down the hall was really convenient. so we didn't have to pack so many clothes.

Ports of call

Naples, Italy

You have to see Pompei. It is incredible. The Capri, Sorrento, Pompei tour was the best. You got to see how the rich and famous vacation, experience a beautiful lunch and have an incredible history tour to round it all out.
Don't Miss: Sorrento had some fun and inexpensive shopping.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

We walked the whole city wall while listening to the electronic history lesson. It was a fascinating city. I wasn't sure about Croatia but it ended up being one of the best tours.
Don't Miss: The local dark beer was a huge hit with the men. They say it is the best ever.

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

Well Florence is the heart of the Renessaince and a must see. The leaning tower is an icon and worth the drive. I could have spent a lot more time checking out all of the museums.

Venice, Italy

Venice can only be experienced by being there. Picture do not do it justice. We spent one day just wlking the city and crossing those fabuous bridge. Go to St. Mark's square to see it but then walk further into the city to shop. The prices and selections are much better. They have some wonderful handmade paper shops and leather journals.

Messina, Sicily

Eat a cannoli! The best ever. We went to the ancient Greek theatre. It was wonderful. Well worth the drive!

Barcelona, Spain

You must see the Gaudi Cathedral. We didn't have enough time in Spain to see a lot. Everybody said the shopping was better in Spain, I didn't find that to be true.

Cannes, France

It was fun too just hang out in a cafe and drink the best cappucino in the world while eating the best pastries on Earth. We actually dd quite a bit of shopping in Cannes. The prices were reasonable and the people were very friendly.

Pros: We really enjoyed Venice. We had seen all the pictures but actually being there to experience it was unbelieveable.

Cons: The 21/2 hour wait to see the Vatican. The Vatican was worth the wait but, it was miserable.
