Carnival Legend

14 Night Panama Canal Carnival Journeys (Baltimore Roundtrip)

Sail date: January 09, 2022

Ship: Carnival Legend

Cabin type: Balcony

Cabin number: 8164

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

Staffing concerns & uncertainty over port availability forced Carnival to change the duration/itinerary the day before departure. Although we were disappointed to miss out on the Panama Canal & that our trip was shortened by 4 days, I think that Carnival did a fine job of improvising & doing the best they could under the circumstances.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Sailing out of the Baltimore Cruise Terminal is a pleasure - well organized & well staffed

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Customarily excellent

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Throwback Day was terrific. The horse & frog racing brought back fond memories. We loved Marcela from the Fun Squad & tried to catch any activity she was hosting.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The Playlist Production performers were not on this cruise due to covid protocol & that resulted in many guest performers. Carnival did a good job of juggling shows, all things considered

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The ship was clearly understaffed due to covid protocols (quarantining) but everyone did the best they could under the circumstances. Our dining room team changed twice during the trip.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Smaller (2400 max capacity) ship, excellent layout. We enjoyed the smaller crowds & being able to get around quickly. Cleaning/sanitizing standards were outstanding.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Typical cruise ship cabin - which is to say, too small. Balcony was slightly larger, but multiple Sea Days in less than stellar weather meant that we didn't use it nearly as often as we would've liked

Ship tip

Stephanie & Marcela from the Fun Squad are terrific - make sure you participate in any events they're hosting.
