Review summary

Since we are older cruisers, I know we don’t participate like we used to in our younger years, but we love to watch others enjoy the activities. Frankie, the cruise director, did a great job, although we didn’t really get to meet him the first night since we didn’t do the Super Bowl party in the theater (only because we were too tired from the traveling that day). There are so many activities to choose from, we like that we can be as active or as lazy as we want to be.

Embarkation

The check in was flawless. There was very little waiting to get checked in. One of the porters went above and beyond and retrieved a bag we wanted to keep with us that we had let get away from us when we unloaded our bags from our hotel shuttle. We wanted to keep it with us while boarding. He got a good tip!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We ate at the MDR (early dining, Lido deck buffet, Guy’s Burgers and Blue Iguana. The MDR food wasn’t perfect, but it was quite good. Our wait staff was excellent and, other than being very long on the first night, we usually were done by 7. Ordering dessert at the same time as we ordered our meal was helpful in keeping things moving along. I like that change. We did not do any specialty restaurants this cruise. We felt the menu offerings were quite varied and ate at the MDR every evening.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We are an older couple, so we don’t participate in too many of the very active onboard activities, but we got to enjoy watching others. There was always something to do if you were looking to keep busy.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We attended almost every show! The Play List performers were excellent. The live musicians performing through the ship were also very enjoyable. We especially enjoyed a group call Lega-Sea who performed often at the Red Frog Pub with a variety of styles.

Children's Programs

No children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our wait staff was excellent, as were our room stewards. They were extremely responsive to our needs and went out of their way to take care of any issues we had. When we ordered room service, their was prompt delivery and the orders were always right. Overall, the staff who helped us were friendly, efficient, and took really good care of us. No complaints!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This class of ship is my absolute favorite. It’s very easy to get around. We didn’t even have to wait much on the elevators. There seemed to be a lot of work going on, maintenance wise. When in port, they were paining. We noticed maintenance and cleaning being done on the life boats. We had a few repairs taken care of very promptly in our room. And they cleaned the balconies twice on our cruise. The common areas were always clean. We saw them scrubbing walls and shampooing carpet in our hallway.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We splurged on a suite for our anniversary and loved it. The extra room and storage were quite a treat. We also enjoyed the dressing area and two sinks in the bathroom. The dispensers had the Elemis products in them. We received extra water and treats (cookies, fruit) for being in a suite. The only complaint I had was the sink stoppers had some corrosion which allowed the water to drain slowly instead of holding it. I had to be careful when washing lingerie not to let it touch the stopper area or it would catch, potentially snagging the material.

Ship tip

On deck three at the front of the ship is a special walkway that is a great place to go if you want to read or talk quietly. We love that it’s so easy to get around the Legend. The MDR is easy to get to since you don’t have to go t9 another floor to get there, but can get off any of the elevators and walk there.

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida

Very organized embarkation and debarkation.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We did not do any excursion, but we shopped the port area. We always get our vanilla there. It’s always a pleasant stop in Cozumel. We also appreciated the trike driver taking us back to the ship.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico Did not visit port

The pier was extremely long with no local buggies or trikes to help. It would have been too much walking for us to be able to enjoy the area. And then we would have to get back on the ship. We weren’t sure we could do it all.

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
We did not do an excursion, but we did ride the sky lift over to the beach. We ate lunch at the restaurant there and relaxed in the beach area before riding back. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We also visited many of the shops at the port. Very enjoyable.

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
We did not do an excursion, but we did get off the ship. We ate lunch at Margaritaville. We walked around a bit before heading to the tender,

Disembarkation

Very easy and on time. We used a porter to help with our luggage and he whisked us right through the customs process. It was worth the tip money to us.
