Review summary

We have been on several carnival cruises, on all but one we chose a balcony room. We are warm weather people so we knew we wouldn't be using one on this trip. We chose one with an obstructed view but french doors we could open for a bit of fresh air. First thing we discovered on this trip was the doors have been removed and are now just windows. The carpet was torn and coming up in several places. Corner trim missing in places. Again not a clean window anywhere. Bathroom partitions broken. Coffee, hot chocolate and ice cream machines constantly not working. I could continue but it's easier to just say carnival will never get any money from us or the other 10 people in or group again. We heard the same from dozens of other passengers.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Over 2 hours of standing in lines followed by sitting and waiting for our group number to be called even though we had an assigned embarkation time

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Service was terrible, waiters constantly bringing us the wrong things which we normally cold. Buffet food quality has dropped significantly. Guys Burger Joint was by far the best food.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
1 pool closed because it was flooding rooms below, spas were closed or barely warm whenever we tried to use them, miniature golf closed at 7 pm because it was a "safety issue"

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
We were informed that our cruise was a "training cruise" that would explain why most employees were walking around not doing anything. We were constantly moving stacks of dirty dishes to use tables. Walked by several employees who were hiding in areas using their phones.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Just another carnival ship layout. The ship was filthy. Construct dirt and trash everywhere. Not a single clean window on an Alaska cruise that they know is going to have many older passengers who can't sit outside in the cold. No way to heat rooms on an Alaskan cruise.

Why stop for 3 hours? It's fun getting screamed at by Canadians about how much they hate Americans

Did you take the cruise before or after dry dock?

Wow!!!!!! Did you only have to pay half price for this cruise that was a training Cruise? That is absolutely ridiculous. Like if they have to have training cruises then they should severely discount them so you know what you're getting into. I've never been on a Carnival we've always been Royal Caribbean but I just don't even know what to say about that.

All that and it just came out of dry dock?! We also got an obstructed view with French doors to open. I understood there was no balcony, but we could open the doors. If this is the case, that stinks!! We picked a cabin that landed between the life boats for a better view, although still limited. Darn!! Other things I can deal with. Did you take pics of what was once french doors? Thanks for the heads up.
