Felt like a scam and were out thousands of dollars. I tried to upgrade to suite and couldn't, couldn't get any refund or credit. Half the party could not go because of the Canadian Visa requirement and nobody told us, and honestly in Canada nobody checked out passport going into Canada either, only passport getting back on ship. Ruined our trip to say the least.
Embarkation

The worst experience of my life really. My wife spent a lot of time crying as this was a bucket list item for her and it was ruined. We were told her mom and dad would be fine even after we clarified that they had Thailand passports and US Visa. They could not board as they needed Canadian Visa as well, even if they don't debark on the single Canadian port. We could not get refunded or credited the money. We are out thousands of dollars and it ruined a vacation of a lifetime. This honestly feels like a scam and a class action lawsuit in behalf of everyone who has ever had this happen should be opened.

OK, but didn't locate it until day 6 of 7. He spent 1 hour in the room which he thought was ok.

The Thailand ladies in Lido were 5 stars everyone else seemed ok. Although it was funny to see a guy mess up on two omelet's, I guess 3 is a charm.

Ship tip
Don't trust the people who are selling you the tickets. They will say anything to get your money.
Carnival is very explicate about their requirements and rules. Sounds like it was your own fault for not checking things out. As far as refunds go, it is also explained very clearly in your documents. "Nobody told us" is not a good excuse for not knowing!
Just curious when did you try to upgrade to a suite? Thinking about trying to upgrade on one of our future cruises. As far as needing a visa to go into Canada it's very implicit on the carnival excursions that go into Canada that a passport is needed.
