Review summary

Good value cruise. Our whole intention was to do some shopping away from home and we did just that. Very fun time with just a few disappointments.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
One minor problem. Luggage dropoff not clearly marked so I had to go through check in twice

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Buffet pretty ordinary but Guys Burger Joint was outstanding as always. A bunch of fun loving staff.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
I did not participate in anything so this is more of a N/A rating

Entertainment

1 out of 5
I know Carnival helps people all they can, but really? Do they actually PAY these people?

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Every staff person we met was professional, friendly, courteous, and helpful. I couldnt have asked for better staff.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Everything clean and maintained. My only faults was the mini suite was very mini. I think an ocean view cabin would have been larger

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Cabin was adequate. The only reason I did not complain was that our cabin steward was outstanding. As I stated above, I expected a bit larger cabin, and the balcony seemed to be a tiny afterthought to the designers.

Ship tip

Check room sizes before booking an upgrade.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

3 out of 5
Not easy to board, as we stayed at Queen Mary the night before, and walked to board. Since the luggage dropoff was in the parking garage, and we did not use that, I had to leave the checkout to drop off my bags or carry them on myself. Therefore I was separated from my traveling companion.

Catalina Island, California

5 out of 5
We did a little walking tour on our own and the port was perfect.

Ensenada, Mexico

5 out of 5
Again we got off in Ensenada with the idea we wanted to do some shopping. Everything we wanted was right there and we got to walk around and enjoy.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
No problems. Disembarkation is always a zoo, so having a late time off the ship cut down on the confusion

They don't have porters right in the front taking bags anymore? Strange. What do all the people do who are being dropped off? All the people coming off buses have to take their bags over to the parking structure?
