We were disappointed in Carnival's customer service on this cruise. Every day we had to spend time addressing one thing or another. Incorrect charges, looking for our steward if we needed anything, etc. Not everything was disappointing, our room was large and pretty, Guy's restaurant was great and the photos were amazing as always. The Fun Shops staff were really high pressure this time, even lying about closing to get you to purchase. On the last night the power on the whole ship went out for over half an hour and they never even made an announcement. It was dark and you could hear people freaking out. They should have said something!!! We will likely book with Princess next time, we have always had great customer service with them.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
The scheduled embarkation was great! Rooms were ready and we were happy to skip the lines of yesteryear!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The main dining room food was not as great as we have experienced on other Carnival ships or other cruiselines. Guy's Burger Joint was OUTSTANDING and so was Pig and Anchor. The desserts were great as always!
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
We only found lounge chairs by the pools a couple of times because people would leave a book or flip flops on them all day so they would have a spot. So we never actually went swimming. There were really nice seating areas on the outside decks that we enjoyed.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
What we always enjoy are the theater shows, and there were only 2 singing and dancing shows on this 8 day cruise. The Liquid Lounge (theater) was small and with hardly any tables which made us not want to play Bingo. The stage was also very small. The comedy shows and game shows were all great as was the singers when they did perform.
Children's Programs
We didn't have children with us
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Our dining room staff were awesome, all of the wait staff was. Our room steward only came in once a day, maybe this is protocol since our last cruise.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Liquid Lounge/theater was too small! Loved the new elevators (once we figured them out). The spaces were somewhat awkward feeling to us, but I liked 3 levels of shops instead of just 2.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Our cabin was beautiful, spacious and well decorated. However there was often a sewer smell from the bathroom. If we left the door closed it was no problem. Bed was comfortable.
We went on the VIP All Inclusive Saona Island excursion and it was disappointing. The best part was on the way to Saona Island we stopped at a natural swimming pool in the ocean, it was gorgeous! After that it went downhill. The beach was beautiful sand as advertised, but you couldn't go into the water without cutting your feet on coral. My husband got an infection. The food was not local and lacked flavor, but we didn't come to eat. Our excursion guide was drunk by the end of the day and hanging out with a group of drunk girls. I would not recommend this excursion!
We did Natural Pool & Arikok National Park by UTV and it was amazing!!!! Best excursion I've been on in 7 cruises!!! Beautiful scenery, fun UTVs, awesome swimming hole and the staff were awesome!!!
