everything was great except for the food by SaraK

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

This is our third cruise. The entire staff was wonderful, spa, casino hosts, shows, waiters etc. were great!! We were just a bit disappointed with the food. Not enough selection, food was at times cold when it should be hot. Only late night snack was pizza.

Great friends made by GwennB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

For a carnival ship it is okay but the standard of the carnival ships just isn't the same as some of the other cruise lines. The outside rooms are nice size and the employees on board are wonderful, friendly and very helpful. The food is okay but its just your standard buffet food even at the sit down dinners.

a nice mini vacation option by JoanneP

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Everything is as good as cruising should be but Carnival is for people who like to PARTY, which means if you are choosing for a nice and quiet relax time, this is not for you. Even at the supposed \"Serenity\" area for adults, there were people shouting out loud conversation and engaging in disrupting behaviors . The kids and teens were nice, it did make our 15 year-old want to hang out at the teen club (with counselors) all day long and participated with the activities. we were on deck 6, the hallway noise was very annoying, especially when you were trying to sleep in. But I suppose that had more to do with people being rude than the qualities of the cruise (yet again, the party atmosphere of Carnival Cruise seems to attract a certain type of people).

Passable 4 day Weekend Extenter by MonteH

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Pros staed above; dining room food choices were poor and skimpy (3 leaves of salad does not make a salad whole), waiters were tardy and uncaring to requests; food came cold and had to be replaced with same just slightly warmer (2 days out of 4); be careful of paint that did not dry after 3+ days; need washy washy stands a each dining room entrance and start of EACH buffet line, and someone insisting guests use them!

Short & not as sweet as I thought by CindyM1563422

The ship was great. Nice and clean with most of the staff being incredibly friendly. Unfortunately, it's difficult to communicate with some of them due to language barriers.

meant only for families with children. by MaryW41626678

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We have traveled on several other cruises, and this cruise is at the bottom of the list in terms of amenities. The overall impression was that collecting money from the customers was Priority #1. For example, we went to the dining room only twice: why were we forced to tip for service that we did not choose? The activities were narrow, nothing intellectually stimulating for people who didn't want to go to the typical shows, comedy hours, etc. Nothing creative about the manner in which Carnival plans activities; everything is predictable.

Technical Difficulties by DanS1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Several shows were interrupted or cancelled due to \"technical Difficulties\". Grand Finale show on the last night of the cruise was great, the rest were mediocre or non-existent. One of the comedians - Doug Funk was great! TV reception for any live shows was impossible to watch. Screens were stippled and audio was choppy. The ships Satellite tracking system needs a major overhaul as does the theatre systems. Overall the pools were inadequate for the number of guests onboard. Found it difficult to get to one end of the ship from the other without traversing stateroom floors. The adults only \"Serenity\" areas were great albeit a little windy at the bow of the ship. Dining room was OK, food was good and the staff were excellent!. Stateroom Stewards were excellent and very attentive. Rooms were made up in the morning so you had fresh towels for afternoon/evening every day. Specialty Steak house food and service was first class, however the location was directly under the running track and just above an open stairwell to the Rail Sail self-service dining areas. If people were running above you could hear the pounding on the ceiling. Fortunately it got quiet towards dinner time.

Really Nice Ship! by JeanneKatieC

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Though I only gave it a Good rating, it was a beautiful ship. However, its layout mid-ship was like traversing a maze. Cruise staff was excellent except for the bussers up on the Lido decks and the buffet areas. Always dirty tables that needed to be cleared and lots of passengers looking for a clean place to sit. Dining room staff and room staff were excellent! The port of calls were surprisingly fun. I'm 52 and was traveling with my daughter 27. We researched the ports and things to do before we went. We didn't book any excursions and chose to do self guided tours based on our Google info we found. Both ports had great local transportation and friendly tourist info centers, so we saved a lot of money by doing it ourselves. Even though I have several negatives, I would do this cruise again. Carnival really needs to do a better job on their entertainment staff.

I've experienced much better... by CherylR18470539

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Our cabin was wonderful. Spacious, clean and a balcony. However, the ship needs a huge face lift. Furniture is worn. The floorplan of the ship did lend itself to easy access to and from key areas on the ship. The piano bar was pitiful. The lido buffet was dark and the furniture needs improvement. Plastic tableware only. Choice of foods were limited, compared to other cruise ships. Very little shaded seating around the pool. There was an unpleasant odor in the area of the women's steam room and sauna. Also, the floor was not attended to and if you weren't careful, you would slip. One night in the kareoke bar the staff continued serving liquor to a woman who was completely out of control. Is it just about making money??? Additionally, there were young children present in the lounge after 10 PM. This is inappropriate. We had the \"dine at any time\" feature. This turned out to be one of the most disorganized systems for this ship. First you waited on line for a pager. Then you went elsewhere to wait for the pager to buzz. When you turned in your pager, you were shoved to the side to wait to be escorted to your table. Please know, that it is not that there weren't any available tables. It was just that they were not cleaned and set up. Poor management. Also, the waiters in the dine as you wish section, were inattentive. There seemed to be no need for them to try and please you, since they receive the standard tip. If you expect elegance and luxury, this is not the ship for you.

Great staff, great food. by ElizG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group

Ship was confusing to get around. Not all elevators could be used to get to all areas. It was difficult to get around with a wheelchair. Ship was a bit dated, but clean and well kept. The Behind the Fun tour is highly recommended.

Just what we needed! by DonnaM2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

the room accomodations were great, the crew outrageous...in a great way! The food was quality and quantity unbounded...the activities were ok, overlapped a few that we wanted to participate in, but we had an excellent time! The spa traetments were a bit overpriced for the service we received.

Disappointed at sea by MarisaA77588558

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

My family was disappointed with the food at the restaurants and the buffet. If you want fine dining this is not the cruise for you. If you like greasy hotdogs and cremated burgers, book this trip. St. John was a low/middle class town that we walked through in an hour and had 5 hrs to spare. Halifax was beautiful, but we felt pressed for time to see everything. On the ship they have a casino, but didn't make it clear to cash out on the last day. Thought winnings would go on portfolio, WRONG! When I went to customer service they said it was too late and I would get a check from Carnival in 16 weeks!!! Unbelievable.

just okay, not as nice as previous trips by MaryD17

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Perhaps I expected too much, I have traveled on Carnival before and enjoyed it. It seemed as if something was always being pushed for travelers to buy, photos, 'sales' in the stores, art auctions, enough already! Every outdoor area was crowded at all times. I do not notice this as much on Celebrity or HAL. Embarkation was not smooth, however, disembarkation went very well.
