nothing special to write home about by PCWillis

Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was a mediocre cruise with less than adequate food quality.  Carnival always seemed to have the cash register ringing if you wanted quality -- as with the steak restaurant, etc.

We did love our cabin steward who was magnificent.  His awesomeness did not wash away our feelings about the rest of the cruise.

The shows were pretty good considering we were aboard a ship.

Another big disappointment were the Carnival Cruise Lines controlled ports.  In both the Dominican Republic and the Grand Turk you could tell that you did not see the real country only what the cruise line allowed.

We also had our DSLR camera stolen aboard this ship.  Aaarrgghh!

7-Night Western Caribbean Criuise-Carnival Glory by betdave

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

There are too many good things about this experience to narrow it down to one favorite thing.  I loved the food, the entertainment and the service.  The only thing I did not like was Belize.  The country is dirty and the people are unfriendly.  I have taken this cruise twice and my feeling about Belize has not changed.  I don't know how difficult it would be to change ports, but it would not hurt my feelings if Belize was taken off.  I won't go there again. I would recommend this cruise to others. Big Smile

Good but not great by RMeek

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my 3rd sailing on the Glory over the past 6 months. The service has always been very good, with the cabin steward and dining room servers excellent. The ship itself is starting to show why it is scheduled for dry dock in February 2017. The entertainment (other than comedians) was below expectations and what I believe to be the Carnival standard,

Disappointing Ship by sherms97

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our 5th cruise and it was very disappointing.  It was the most disorganized ship we have been on.  The most disappointing thing was the formal dinning.  Only one of the evenings did we get our appetizers in under 45 minutes.  Each night it took about 1 hr and 15 min to get served our main course and we had to rush to ever get out in under 2 hours.  The head waiter called us to say he would meet us the next evening to discuss our experience and he of course never showed up.  Our daughter has gluten allergies and I would say Royal Caribbean did a much better job of accommodating us.

Carnival is inexpensive for a reason.  We won't be going on Carnival again.

Great Experience by sofiabet

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The shows are scheduled to fit better the 6pm dinner. However, we were scheduled for the 8pm dinner and the shows were either scheduled for 10pm or not scheduled. When traveling with kids it would be nice to have options that fit both schedules as well as shows that are good for kids.

The quality of the food has improved considerable.

Great experience by MC123

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The entertainment was surprisingly good on this ship - both the live productions and the comedy. We particularly enjoyed the live music throughout the ship.  There were plenty of activities - lots to do at all times. It seemed that there was plenty of entertainment for all ages. The ports of call were all excellent. We only did one excursion through Carnival and it was nice. I found it to be pretty disorganized in the morning getting off the boat - the Carnival staff gave us the wrong stickers for our group - the times were all off and confusing, but the excursion itself was lovely. The food in the lido and dining rooms were very good and we had excellent service. They did a nice job accommodating special dietary needs.

Birthday/Anniversary Cruise by rlharris5610

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves.  The only issue I really have happened after the cruise.  Carnival had taken quite a few authorizations and when the cruise was over, they just took one lump sum.  Now they have $425 plus of authorizations that I am having a problem getting released. The next time I cruise, I will leave cash at the sail and sign desk.  Otherwise I had a wonderful vacation and am already planning my next cruise.

Cruise Ships Continue to Cut Corners by bygrace41

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Perhaps because prices have been fairly competitive, cruises are not offering the services that we've become accustomed to. Frankly, the "favorite part" of our cruise was visiting the ports and partaking in independent (not purchased on the ship) excursions. Grand Turk offered an amazing beach with excellent snorkeling virtually right next to the ship's docking area, for instance. The food was good, and nearly could be called excellent, as was the dining room service. The cruise director happened to be quite aggravating to our way of thinking, but perhaps we are the exception to the rule. The shows, with the exception of the last night, were mediocre. There were several nights during which there were no shows of the type we have come to expect. The area in which the shows took place was so cold that you could have frozen ice right there. Also, 2-3 of the shows incorporated smoky air (to create atmosphere, perhaps?) When that took place, the smell of cigarette smoke accompanied it. Were they getting the smoke from the casino, maybe? (just supposing). The gym was pretty complete, but there again some of the machines had display systems that did not work. And two of the three indoor bikes were broken - not  good. It is apparent that the Glory is an older ship, and it shows in numerous areas; however, we do not feel that the ship's age, per se, is a deal breaker. Maybe that's because we are also "older ships", sailing into our sunset years!

three hour wait just to get in terminal and then another hour in line checking in by scttsprin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

What a difference 5 months make, date of last cruise on same boat. Every port we went to the boat was late getting in which leaves less time on islands. Telling people to go to front of ship to get off and then go to back and finally mid ship. Very unorganized the whole week. Food was good, needs a little more variety. Comedy shows were fantastic

Okay by vicentegriffin2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My room attendant, Henri, along with my servers at dinner, David and Martha were awesome. My only complaint was how food service was always an hour plus wait, no matter what time we called, and don't let them get your order wrong or leave something out because not only do they make you call and reorder it, but that's another hour. I ordered a cake from the fun shops for birthday. It was the worst thing my friends and I have ever tasted. We returned it, and the lady working there tried to convince us that we just didn't like it, but they try all their cakes and that was lie, because if they did they wouldn't have given that to anyone. Then a lady after us went in to purchase and a cake and one of the workers warned her it gets returned. When we overheard that we were over this place! I've been on multiple cruises and this one was probably my least favorite!!

Second time on Glory by Gonzocrusing

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

For us this was the second time we have sailed on the Glory and things were more or less the same as first. This is a good thing. We have become addicted to cruising over the past 8 years and have loved the new megaships that have come out, but there is something to be said about a smaller ship, it just seems like a much more intimate experience and more laid back. The food was good, not super memorable but good. The shows and entertainment were very good, loved the comedians on board, which was nice because we've been disappointed our past couple cruises with comedians. The ship is fairly easy to navigate once you get the hang of it day 1. Overall it doesn't have the bells and whistles of newer ships but that can be a good thing. More relaxed and less hustle and bustle. Just know what your getting in for and you'll really enjoy the Glory.

Family Trip, December 2016 by SharonPera

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise exceeded my expectations.  Always heard it was the lower end of cruise ships, but I fully disagree with that now that I have traveled on the Carnival Glory.  The food was excellent, better than the last few cruises on other cruise lines.  The staff was always kind, helpful and fun.  The ship was clean always, and there was as much fun as one wanted to have.  I will sail Carnival again.

Another successful cruise! by magnumtg

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

As always for me, the favorite part of the cruise is eating. I love the variety of foods prepared by the chefs and the buffet style of choices. The days at sea were tranquil, therapeutic as the ship sailed through smooth waters. I always treasure meeting the cast and crew who are from many different countries around the globe. The professional shows, the deck participations and parties. The photos taken through out the ship. The comedy clubs, the casinos, music played live in different parts of the ship. The ship is alive and has something for everyone to do or to participate in if so desired. Or just stay in your cabin and relax. The ports of call were my all time favorite thing to do. Swimming in the waters of Half moon cay. Visiting the fort at San Juan, swimming at Magens bay St. Thomas. Or just the casual stroll through Grand turks island which the scenery was just crazy beautiful. I would definitely recommend this cruise to anyone who is a cruise enthusiast as I am. The service was impeccable as always. That was my sixth cruise and all have been on Carnival. I might try some other line, But haven't decided yet. Thanks Karen for all of your help getting me put this together.

Mohogany Bay was my family favorite stop because there were so many different activities for everyone to do. This was a great way to spend some quality time with my family and see some great ports for a great price.

Not bad for a first cruise by astrutt920

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship staff was wonderful, our stateroom steward Efron was excellent and called us by name every time we saw him. One thing to keep in mind is that you are just one or two of 3000 people on the ship and there are LINES and long waits everywhere. Food for the most part was better than expected, but it takes a long time to be served in the dining room. Be wary of some of the excursions, one of the tours we booked thru the cruise line didn't tell us that they Mayan Ruins were really ruined - the buildings had been blown up searching for gold that wasn't there. If we had known that, we would have taken a different tour.
