We enjoyed it thoroughly and will go on another cruise. Just not any time soon. And not to Jamaica! Overall the entire vacation was amazing and I can’t thank Carnival Glory and the entire staff for helping us have the best time possible!!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Besides being nervous because I’ve never done anything outside of Alabama and driving to every beach vacation I’ve ever had, my experience was amazingly easy! We received help because we traveled with my mother in law who had a push cart because of her back issues and it went extremely well!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Food was great, employees were even more great, because of their ability to remember our names at all times and they always went out of their way to help in any way possible!! I must say I was very disappointed finding out they only made minimum wage and had to share their tips and gratuities between more than one other staff member. Only complaint is that they deserve more than that because they were amazing!!! Other than that we were completely satisfied!!
Onboard Activities

We played shuffleboard on deck 10 almost every day and loved it so much we ordered one for our home 😬. We went to the shows provided by staff and loved the fact that all the staff were so versatile in everything from singing to being a our go to person for any questions or excursions and they did it all with the best attitudes and smiles!!
Entertainment

Awesome besides the language, but again I’m 40 so I can handle that type of thing but it would have been better without all the racial soured and cuss words. But over all I have it all a thumbs up for sure.
Children's Programs
We didn’t have children in our group
Service and Staff

Our room stewards remembered our names and always met us and said hi and not once left our rooms empty of anything provided. We had the best in my opinion Celia was amazingly sweet ♥️
Ship Quality

Everything was always clean until the last two days. By Saturday the smell of sewage started to seep in to the elevators but I understand it has to go somewhere just would have been great to not smell. Also I think there should be a private area for people to smoke marijuana if they chose to. We do not do this personally but I don’t mind if someone else does. It was crazy apparent in the aft part of the lido deck where we had to smoke and was given the opportunity numerous times. Day or night to smoke and turned it down! Also in the lobby when Dustin was doing the singing and getting the crowd pumped you could smell it super strong in those shopping areas. Like I said. It isn’t something we do but maybe have an outside private area for that to be done on.
Cabin / Stateroom

It was always kept clean and stocked. The only complaint would be that the bed from the ceiling stayed down or “out” of the ceiling so I had to stay bent over if we stayed in our room for any amount of time when all 3 of us where in the room. Also there was some type of light that was eye level in the mirror and I didn’t understand how we should see around that fixture.
Ship tip
Don’t pack too many clothes. In the end you will NOT use that many!! Also bring can drinks!!! I did not and it would have saved a ton !! Take plenty of air freshener for your restroom, to be prepared for the sewer smell by the end of cruise. Because it will happen.
No excursion and we didn’t have enough time in town for a 7 day cruise. Husband says we should have started at Jamaica and ended with more days at other places instead of two days at sea. Maybe we could have had a day and a half at each stop.
We plan to move there. We fell in love and we still only got to see the road to the excursion and back because we only had a 4 1/2 hours excursion causing us to use up that time. It was beautiful and I absolutely loved our driver named Mel!! He made us feel at home and like his family!! We will be revisiting this island in paradise for sure. Just not on a cruise.
We were told bad stories about the whole deal and in our opinion this stop should be canceled all the way around. We didn’t know about the bad things until we got on the ship and we would have loved to have been able to see the town but just didn’t want to risk it. Will not be going back ever to Jamaica.
Birmingham averages 10 homicides a month but I still visit it. I have been to Jamaica several times and enjoyed each one. Fear of what could happen will prevent you from experiencing wonderful places, people, and food. Take another cruise to Jamaica and go on an excursion!
I will be sailing the Glory in February and am very excited. I understand this was your first cruise and didn’t know what to expect, but before any cruise, you should research your ports and ship thoroughly. There are a ton of videos on YouTube. An informed cruiser is a happy cruiser. As for the sewer smell, I found that on several ships. I imagine it’s from their holding tank, that the gases are released into the air, and it becomes noticeable. I noticed it on my last cruise by the aft Tides Bar, but nowhere else. I always bring a solid air freshener for my cabin bathroom. If you notice the smell in your cabin, pour water down your bathroom floor drain. That usually remedies it. As for staying docked at a port for more than a day to eliminate sea days—no thank you! The best part of a cruise to me, and many others, is the ship, and sea days. I have 3 cruises booked coming up, the 7 day on Glory in February, and a B2B on the Magic in April. Really excited for the B2B, as it gives me 14 days to enjoy our ship! 😎
If you had done proper research I’m sure you could of enjoyed Jamaica! I’ve heard bad things about Alabama, but if I was visiting there I would do research prior to visiting.
This is a great detailed review. However, there isn’t supposed to be marijuana on the ship at all. I’ve been to Jamaica twice with my family and I’m going back on Glory in December. What did you hear about it? We loved it and did an excision every time, even with our young kids. Cozumel is always great for me. We usually do excisions but the last time, we rode around the island on a scooter and it was the best experience of my life. We visited all the resorts and the Mexican Grocery store. Rode through the neighborhoods, with no problems at all.
We had an absolutely wonderful time in jamaica. We were in montego bay. We did rum tasting, beach, had amazing jerk chicken. We were warned not to go to jamaica, but im glad we did. We are planning to go back soon.
