Review summary

Honestly, it would take a hell of a lot to actually ruin my vacation. That said, I can’t say that I’d recommend the Glory to my family & friends. The ship was fine, but nowhere near as memorable as the Miracle was for us 3yrs ago. I didn’t hate it by any means. It just didn’t measure up when compared to the fond memories I have from my first cruise.

Embarkation

No complaints. It was pouring rain but we were able to get inside quickly. Time from arriving at the port to walking in the ship was probably about 20min.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
My least favorite part of the trip was definitely the food. The MDR meals were surprisingly mediocre and there was very little variation each night. The buffet was incredibly disappointing with limited food choices and smelled horrendous- like a cafeteria & cleaning solution. The best food I had was the Guys Burger (I think it was the Ringer) which was fantastic and everything about our Chefs Table experience was absolutely delicious. Definitely worthwhile to do.

Onboard Activities

The 18+ & 21+ pool/hot tub areas were disappointing. The 18+ pool was closed and hot tubs were cold the first night we went to use them. The other times we went there kids were younger teens splashing around in the pool. The Serenity Deck didn’t have a pool at all- just 2 hot tubs that felt very small for the amount of space designated. The bar closed really early most nights (at 6pm) and there wasn’t always towel service there so we sometimes had to go to the main pool area for towels and drinks. The workout area in the spa was decent. I was surprised at how many people utilized the gym equipment. 3 of the days I went I had to wait for a treadmill to free up- 3 of them were out of service the entire cruise. That was a bit annoying but not a huge deal. We booked a couples massage for the first sea day. I was really looking forward to starting our trip off with a nice relaxing massage but it was honestly the most disappointing thing we did. The couples massage room is just to the left of the spa entrance and the spa itself is directly below the kids club. We heard other cruisers talking as they walked past our treatment room & staff talking as they helped people at the desk as well as thumping & thudding from the kids above is during our entire treatment. We couldn’t even hear the relaxing music that I was told was playing with all the noise surrounding us. Then, when our massages were over the therapists tried to sell us some overpriced oils that we had no interest in. I’ve never had anyone try to sell me products right after a massage. That combined with the noise made for the biggest waste of money we spent all week.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment we saw & participated in was mostly great- bingo was fun, comedy was good (with the exception of Just June who was hands down the best act on the ship- if you ever have a chance to see her DO IT! She’s so great!!!), my first Quest experience was just as hilariously inappropriate as I expected from what I’d heard about it- loved it! The Love & Marriage show was fun too.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service was on point- no issues getting what we wanted/needed from any of the crew at any time. We did anytime dining and never had the same servers twice which was fine by us. Every time we dined each team that served us was excellent. Never any issues at the bars. We had outstanding service at Alchemy where our drinks were quickly prepared when we were rushing to get to comedy & as strong as they were delicious. We prepaid gratuities and tipped on top of that most of the time.

Standard Balcony Cabin. Great location as there were only other cabins above & below us. Close to the elevators but no elevator noise.

Ship tip

Go with an open mind and reasonable expectations. The ship isn’t the best but the crew is! Choose to have fun and you will.

I LOVED this place! Isla Pasion- excursion booked through Carnival. I would have given it 5 stars if we had had more time here. It was a 45min water shuttle there and back. We only had 3hrs on the island. There was so much to see and do but we just didn’t have time for more than a couple drinks, lunch and a bit of water play. Also there was another ship that arrived in port before us so everyone who booked this excursion from that ship arrived an hour ahead of us and snatched up the cabanas & the good beach chairs & tables. Lunch & open bar were included. The food was good, not great. The drinks were strong & service was excellent.

We should have booked an excursion here but by the time we figured it out and tried to join one they had all left already & we weren’t comfortable going out on our own. We live in a beach town so our perspective may be skewed but we just didn’t care for Mahogany Bay. The sand was like the fake stuff in a kids playground & the beach seemed man made. All of the activities & food were really pricey. We seemed to snatch up the last clamshell with beach chairs when we got there. They were out of snorkels & kayaks when we tried to rent them. We had to keep checking back over the course of the day. We never did get a kayak. The water was warm and beautiful though and we were able to get some good beer. Can’t complain too much when you get to spend a day at the beach.

This was our favorite port. We did the Jungle Buggy, Zip-Lining, Cave Tubing w/lunch excursion through Carnival. Well worth the money and peace of mind booking through Carnival. We were of the first groups off the ship and the last to return. May not have made it back on time or been able to do as much as we did if we had booked with an outside company.
