Review summary

Very disappointing, really changed our view of Carnival. Additionally, felt totally misled as did many of the passengers we encountered. This was sold as an inaugural cruise of new ship. It was the second cruise of a slightly refurbished Costa cruise ship. Feel misled and deceived. Carnival just went from a "high choice" to a "LAST choice".

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Awful. Embarking was delayed over 2 hours with no announcement explaining the problem. Seating at the port is extremely limited, so a dew thousand people stood in line all that time with no access to beverages - very unsafe for seniors!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Regulat dining was nothing to brag about; specialty dining was wonderful.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Too chilly to really enjoy pools; other activities not really suited to seniors.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Main show was silly & sub-standard; only one band and they were okay; 80's music trivia was very fun; comic was hilarious.

Children's Programs

We're seniors.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Service was good by room porters; specialty dining was excellent service; everything else was just okay - not alot of smiling faces, no water or lemonade service at buffet tables like on other Carnival cruises. Had to keep getting up to refill remarkably small beverage cups.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Was supposed to be inaugural cruise (it wasn't) but was just a refurbished ship from another failed cruise line. End caps missing of interior hand rails, signs of rust, etc. Not really what I expected from Carnival.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
A Haven cabin with good room and quiet.

Ship tip

If you're accustomed to Carnival cruises, don't take this ship. It was just okay.

Went off-roading and it was great!

Ensenada, Mexico

Booked through Carnival: Went deep sea fishing and it okay. When we got to the boat, guide told us it was the first time using this vendor: 2 places to sit for 8 guests; fishing not that good; had us fishing off back of boat while boat was idling with diesel fumes right in our face - wife had to stop due to feeling nauseous from the fumes.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
We took early disembarking as we couldn't wait to get off the ship. I've always hated leaving ship - NOT this time!
