The cruise was nice. The ports of call were wonderful. Only 1 pool and the adult area is small and could never find a place to sit, so we never got to enjoy it. Food was OK but not a lot of variety. Ship smelled like cigarette smoke throughout so we mostly stayed outside.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Quick & efficient.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Was not expecting the buffets to close down in the afternoon. I''m basing this score on previous cruises with Disney where the buffets are always open throughout the day.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Only 1 pool and it didn''t open until the 2nd day. No rock-climbing and the fitness center was very small with limited equipment.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
shows were good and 1/3 of the comedians was really good the other 2 were just ok.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Our steward was great, but some of the waiters and other ship personnel were not. There seemed to be few and far between.
Ship Quality
1 out of 5
Our room was in the middle of the ship as is the casino. The smell of cigarette smoke permeated the entire area. We were 2 decks below the casino, but the smell came down the elevator shafts and it was horrible. Everything that had cloth or material (carpets, drapes, chairs, couches, etc all smelled like old beer and cigarettes.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Comfortable bed and everything was clean. Was very surprised to find out that there is no fridge in this room.
Ship tip
Older ship with no extras. Only reason for this ship was the destinations & ports of call
We had scheduled for a bus tour of the island of San Juan and then they would bring us and our luggage to the airport. We met in the library on the boat for over an hour while everyone else was disembarking. When they finally walked us down we had to get our own luggage and take it to the bus, where we waited almost another hour before they let us load up and leave. What was supposed to be a 5 hour excursion that we paid for in advance ended up being 3 hours and then they required additional payment (for luggage delivery- the luggage was with us on the bus) when we got to the airport. Next time we will just take a taxi to the airport.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Sounds like you expected more from the ship than it offered. It is one of the older in the fleet. By the way: none of Carnival’s ships have a climbing wall.
