Excellent and Affordable Vacation by juliegordon76

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was my 2nd Carnival cruise to Nassau. I must say the service and food was much better this time.

I was accompaniedby my aging parents who have never been on a cruise and they had the time of their lives. We all loved the shows, casino, dinners, and our favorite was the comedy shows.

Great job on this fun ship cruise, Carnival!

Poor Customer Service by melloncup

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

When checking into the Port, the port workers were very rude! When going to dinner, our party of 5 were seated at 2 different tables. Waiters didn't understand English, slow in getting water, slow in general. Our Head waiter was amazing! When booking the cruise,  I thought we added the insurance, port fees, and the gratuity. Nassau was grossly dirty. Dirtier than I remembered from my last cruise with Carnival. The Islanders were very kind. I love Carnival cruises but the staff on this ship were not nice. Head waiter Nathaniel from Croatia and Ivan Oleksiv-waiter, was amazing and nice Wethersfield it was at breakfast, lunch or dinner. My daughter had to sleep with her mattress on floor, the bathroom shower looked like it had mold in the grout, but our room service was great! One particular lady from customer Service, I wanted to choke. She didn't understand me, she was not willing to help me so I had to just walk away and spoke with someone else.

We are Elated! by Benno64

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Hard to say what our favorite part of the cruise was. We enjoyed the whole experience. Maybe it was the friendly, polite and professional service we received from every member of the crew that we came into contact with.

Adi was our awesome stateroom steward, he did a fantastic job keeping us straight. Bagus was a fun and efficient waiter that helped us enjoy our wonderful meals.

Alex and Lee were very funny and talented morning show hosts and entertainer's.

We enjoyed both our excursions, "My Bahamian House" in Freeport, and "The Top Ten" in Nassau.

We liked getting away and being together, and being spoilt.

Because we don't usually drink alcohol much, we did not purchase the "Cheers" program, and that ended up being the right decision. We did purchase the "Bubbles" program which was well worth it.

The service that could use the most improvement would be WiFi, very sporadic and irritatingly so sometimes. Oh & the TV in the cabin was ancient and had a very blurry picture.

Aside from those two minor blips, we had an awesome time and would love to do it again.Love

Horrible budget cruise by nancyga

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The food on a Carnival Cruise was a lot like a Golden Corral three years ago. Mass produced cafeteria food. Carnival has since dropped the quality to a public school cafeteria level. The service was substandard as many of the crew looked bored and unhappy. The Cheers program is a disaster waiting to happen . People felt challenged  to drink to the 15 drink limited. They turned into screaming drunks. I fled to my cabin to avoid their inappropriate behavior. Carnival should spend more time making a pleasant cruise experience and less effort trying to milk every last dollar from their passengers.

Elation - Mechanical Issues by lisaknight531

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The cruise as a whole was OK.  It appeared the lines were very long all times for the abilty of obtain food.  We did, however, not have any issues with obtaining seating in the dining room as we selected not to have a set time.

However, the main issue was the A/C blew a ciruit and power went out on the way back to Jacksonville.  Announcements were made but we really did not know exactly what happened until we departed from the ship (via social media / news crews).

We were delayed almost 3 hrs getting to Jacksonville and while they did try to keep the cruise somewhat enjoying, we still did not have A/C and they did not provide any type of immediate recovery for the passengers for this issue.

I work in Diseaster  Recovery and Business Continuity.... they should have a better plan in place for when the A/C causes these types of mechanical issues and how they can better accommodate the passengers.  Bringing in some fans int the eating areas, portable A/C units.. .something at it was 90 degrees and the ship was almost unbearable due to the heat from 2:00 AM till we departed.

Thanks !

Lisa

Bahamas Family Cruise 2016 by dancoggins1135

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

It was our first time to ever take a cruise. The boat was nice and everyone aboard the boat was very polite and always ready to meet our needs. We had children ranging in ages of 5 to 15 and it was enough entertaining to

satisfy them all. I would recommend a cruise to anyone who wants to relax and best of all to have no phone ringing. Our waiters at Dinner was so awesome and polite. They knew our names and knew what our children would want for appetizers. The only thing that was scary was when we experienced engine trouble on our way back. But I was thankful for the safety routine at the beginning of the cruise cause if it had been a real bad emergency we knew what to do and where to go.

I was not a happy guest. Very old boat water on floor saw people falling due to water on leado deck .Rubber coming up on the decks  bathroom all smelled like pee and food was raw .Not a lot of actives .Every bar had a different price on same drinks. Wasn't  greeted by workers. Heard lot of people talking about the ship employees saying they hated there job and made the guest suffer for it.,I don't know if I will travel with Carnival .Paid to much not to enjoy 'Sad

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was my first cruise and it was absolutely amazing!!! The Carnival Elation was a beautiful boat and the crew was extremely friendly! Naussa wasn't what I expected and I was slightly disappointed at that port, but Half Moon Cay exceeded my expectations and make the whole invite trip wonderful!  I absolutely can't wait until my next cruise!!

Pleasant by bobnloisk

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The cruise was pleasant, however, the cabin for three my wife, my son and I shared was awful. (M138) If the box in the corner was not there, it would have been a 'just acceptable' cabin.

The food was O.K. in the dining room and Lido deck.

Great staff. Great room service. Food options can be more. the way to book tea/food in advance was kind of confusing. one of the waiter was not so friendly and always getting angry when asked for something special.

The agent booking this cruise Ms. Colt at BJ's was of a great help.

Yes, i would recommend others this cruise.

Happy
