Highly Recommend this Caribbean Cruise! by ldutra68

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Elation

Overall it was the best first cruise ever! Staff were so amazing! I was a little disappointed that I won an excursion to Princess Cays Glassbottom Boat & when the excursion was cancelled, Carnival gave me 2 cents for that prize. Maybe a discount for a cup of coffee would have been nice & not to sound greedy but maybe they could have just left the 2 cents off of my bill & given me a voucher for another cruise with them. That would have encouraged me to sail with them again. Also, I had a walker & really struggled with accessibility for shows & getting on & off elevators. Music events left people with disabilities standing on sidelines where we couldn’t really see what was going on. Passengers were unkind & often left people with disabilities waiting through several elevators because they would run in & there was no room. One lady waited quietly through 3 elevators until we had to block the elevator so she could get on. Same with seating at shows.

pretty good, but room for improvements by oniflowerz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

- i would like a better refund for not going to princess cays than just $18 - why would be a limit to the drinking package to 15 drinks? in other cruises there's no limit for about the same price of the package. - LATIN MUSIC or LATIN NIGHT at the club IS A MUST!! there's was none of that in my experience of the cruise - Pande is the best cleaner, for sure. always so nice - no military discounts on carnival purchases is a bit sad - entertainments on the cruise were very nice and the food services was good also - wished there were somewhere to play pool

Did not meet expectations by kevinekelley

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation

We ordered a 2 stop cruise and got only 1 stop. The Bimini stop was cancelled and the Freeport stop was shortened. We did not get what we paid for.

Not great for kids by jbeninati

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation

Never again. This was essentially a trashy adult sleep away camp on water. Save your money and book a ship out of miami that’s newer and has more amenities or more ports of call.

Smaller Ship by annscochenour

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation

The passengers and crew were very nice and respectful. Ship was too small for our liking. Need pool in adult section since because of kids can’t enjoy main pool. Food definitely was a let down. Worse food I’ve ever had on a cruise especially the buffet

First time with the kids by ChiFulton5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation

The kids had a great time. Family trips aren’t the same as vacation. The kids were pleased with the food and appreciated the autonomy. I ate in the dining room as much as possible for a better culinary experience. Pack seasoning (and hot sauce if you like it). Best food was the sushi!

Vacation filled with Fun, Family Time and Food by 1Crusieatatime

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation

Overall the experience was positive. This was our first cruise and we learned a lot. What I thought may be a once in a lifetime experience certainly will not be, we are looking to book again! I will strategize for a better dining experience but certainly will not go hungry. No more Bubbles package for the kids, we will just carry on a couple cases of soda. The butterflies of how this works and what to do are no gone, the next voyage will be even better.

Great little ship! by cruise6921951

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation

Overall, a great cruise. Dining room staff could be better organized. If they had more ports of call than Nassau, I would love to sail Carnival Elation again! How about going to Bermuda instead of Nassau?

Mediocre Experience and rocky ship!!! by daniellemf

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation

Overall, it was an okay experience.. not terrible but also not great. We are a family of 3 with a young child who lives in Jacksonville and so we booked this cruise for the ease of travel with a toddler and because we had heard Carnival was family friendly. The trip started off with a 3-hour delay of the ship getting into port, so we were 3-hrs delayed boarding and then because of that they had to swap our Day-at-Sea with the day in Freeport. This was an inconvenience for those who had booked day passes at resorts or shore excursions. In addition, the day at sea was a warm sunny day and our planned beach day in Freeport wound up being windy, chilly and stormy. Each person on board was credited $25 for the inconvenience which was nice, but fell short. We had a grand suite with balcony and the room was perfect for our family who needed some extra space. Our room attendant Lloyd was incredible and so friendly - he always went out of his way to say hello and make sure that we were doing okay. The food on board was okay - the best part were the hamburgers honestly. We found the menu in the dining room to be really exciting, but then the flavor of the dishes and presentation underwhelming. It's Carnival so we didn't really expect a mind blowing dining experience. Our server Micah was very nice and service in the dining room was very attentive. We had fun doing some of the activities like Bingo. I did gamble a little in the casino but it smelled so horribly of smoke from all of the cigarettes that I couldn't stay there for very long In terms of the ports, we probably would not do another Bahamas cruise. We didn't feel super safe in Nassau and felt like we were being taken advantage of by some of the locals. In terms of actual sailing, it was very smooth in the Bahamas, but the trip there and back especially was very rocky and we had to take Dramamine for a good portion of the ride. Overall, it was an mediocre experience but if we ever do another cruise again we'll take the drive to Port Canaveral where there are more options and try a different cruise line that is a little more refined. This one was a little too rowdy and had a younger party demographic.
