Review summary

Overall, a great cruise. Dining room staff could be better organized. If they had more ports of call than Nassau, I would love to sail Carnival Elation again! How about going to Bermuda instead of Nassau?

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Other than a lack of clear signs in the parking lot/drop off area, embarkation was smooth and fast!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was very good; however, a few items were not as good as they should have been (compared to other Carnival ships), for example the calamari). Also, their dessert cakes have always had a supper light fluffy icing that I personally find flavorless and not appitizing. Yet, the 12-hour brazed short rib was spectacular and one of the best meals I have ever had.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Shows are good, lots of activities, but this size ship does not have multiple pools, or rock walls, etc. That's fine with me as I don't use them anyway.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Shows were standard Carnival. On this cruise on of the singers was only OK, but the rest were good. The violin players were really good and played some great songs. Even my kids liked them..

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
16-year-old loved his program. Not enough organized non-drinking events for young adults.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our cabin stewarded did the minimum. yet our kids steward 2 cabins down was fantastic. I found the dining room staff to be unorganized at times. Taking 20 minutes to get there to take our appetizer order is unacceptable. Note, every night was not that way as we did not have the same servers every night.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Loved the ship, plenty of places to sit and feel like the ship is uncrowded.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
WE felt we had plenty of room. Very similar to much larger cruise ships. Our steward (George) sucked and did not keep our room up to Carnivals normal high standard, but our kids steward (Aris in M145) was spectacular.

Ship tip

Explore the ship and take the behind-the-scenes tour. Much better than RC's similar tour and less expensive.

Ports of call

Jacksonville, Florida

4 out of 5
Parking lot could be better signed.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

4 out of 5
Only thing that would make it better would be a tram to take you up and down the beach. It is a bit of a walk to get away from the crowd.

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
New port area is great, but outside that area seems run down and dingy. My second time there and I won't plan on going back unless the cruise deal is spectacular. We just don't see what the draw is to Nassau.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We were off the ship quickly and on the road quickly. Well done, Carnival!
