Review summary

The kids had a great time. Family trips aren’t the same as vacation. The kids were pleased with the food and appreciated the autonomy. I ate in the dining room as much as possible for a better culinary experience. Pack seasoning (and hot sauce if you like it). Best food was the sushi!

Embarkation

The coast guard scheduled an inspection, so we were delayed by two hours. Once we started moving, it was fine. I’d never experience this type of delay.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
This was my fifth cruise (second with Carnival). The food was mediocre at best. I had 1-2 meals that I truly enjoyed. There was limited fresh fruit apart from dinner time in the dining room. I was very disappointed with the buffet and speciality restaurants. The fish tacos looked like fried feces. Drinks (wine, margaritas, and cold press juice) were good but I didn’t care for their strawberry daiquiri. I couldn’t finish them.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
My spouse enjoyed using the gym everyday. Our children enjoyed the pool, and we had fun playing bingo and deal or no deal as a family. Camp Ocean was a lifesaver so that we could enjoy a break. Kids didn’t want to go and then loved being there.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
It was fun listening to music and games with the cruise director and other guests. People were very engaged and it was great music (Motown in particular)

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
They had a good time crafting, playing video games, and participating in the scavenger hunt.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The room steward did a good job. Most other staff was polite and helpful but somewhat distant. Eddy in the dining room was the most personable and memorable crew member who I interacted with.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Common areas were well maintained but the ship is dated which shows up most in the stateroom bathrooms.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
We’d never done a 5 person cabin before. There was a Murphy bed perpendicular to the head of our king, another one over the right foot of our bed, and a fold out bed below the second Murphy. It was a small space but it was cleaned well each day and we spent limited time there.

Ship tip

Get clarity about how prepaid gratuity is divided (what’s the actual percentage breakdown).

Visited Nassau several times before. It was just as beautiful. Took a boat ride with a local business. It was a great experience.

Disembarkation

Disembarking was quick and easy!
