Review summary

Older ship, but a great crew. Half Moon cay is highly recommended and I really liked the Sat to Sun eight days with two sea days back. Finally a cruise that didn't feel rushed!

Embarkation

Being platinum really helped this time. We bypassed a long line and went straight into the terminal. After about a 30 minute wait, the gangway opened and we went right onboard.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
No specialty dining this trip. All meals in the MDR. The Emeril selections were all really good and are a welcome addition to the menu. Mrs. Jallaway said the desserts were all really good and the brunch Voyager burger is one of the best things you can get on the ship. Did you know that adults can get the kids banana split? And that some dopes will get it almost every night of the cruise??

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We mainly just hung out on the serenity deck and relaxed this cruise.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We didn't do a lot, but all the live performers and comedy shows were good. One of Carnivals strong suites is the how they offer a wide variety of live music nightly.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As usually, all the staff were super friendly

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
I like this size ship and layout. The common areas are kept very and well maintained

Cabin / Stateroom

Cove balcony room 2349 was in a great location in relation to the elevators. Overall very quiet. But! There's no hiding this is an older ship. The light switches and TV remote were very wonky, the A/C cooling was erratic, and, on one day, a very stinky smell of sewage funked out all the balconies (apparently it came from the balcony drains). Service was very responsive and the floor supervisors even did followup checks

Ship tip

Every knows the value of a Passport. But they also make a huge difference in disembarkation times. Even at 9:00, a massive line had formed for birth certificate disembarkation checks by ICE. Passport holders have facial recognition and literally flew right by

Ports of call

Key West, Florida

First time in a golf cart rental. It was super hot, but we got to see things we'd never been to before

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

Some went to the Lighthouse and said it was good. This is one we just toured the terminal area and spent the rest of the day on the serenity deck

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

5 out of 5
This is one a nicest venues I've ever been to. Beautiful island, crystal clear water, and a nice free lunch. We rented a clamshell, but spent amost the entire time in the water.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
With only two ships in port, we were fortunate not to get the full whammy. Our day was at the Blue Lagoon and then a short visit to the straw market. Not a perfect day, but probably then best Nassau experience for us so far

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Again, very lucky. The combination of being platinum, having a room on 2nd floor disembarkation floor, and having passports allowed us to be out and on the parking shuttle in 15 minutes.
