It was a great first cruise for the family. I wanted to give a shout out to Danielle Smith who made all the arrangements for us. Our cabins were in the right spot on the ship that got us to most of the activities without having to wait to long on the elevators. When they were not available, we were able to take the stairs. Kudos to Danielle.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
We didn't have any issues with the embarkation. The lines seemed to move pretty quickly. We just had to coordinate because we had 3 bookings, so we had to split up the family based on our bookings.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food was good. Some of the buffet items that looked good, didn't turn out the way I expected, but for the most part we enjoyed all the food that was offered. If you like to eat, then going on a cruise is for you. You can pretty eat all day if you want.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We didn't get to enjoy the pools much, because there were mostly kids in them at all times. I wish they had an adults only pool. We did sign up for the spa and that was wonderful.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The live entertainment big shows were not all that great, but it was something to do. Otherwise the rest of the entertainment was good.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
Our 16 year old went to the teen club and made a few friends, so I would consider that a big win.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff was great. Particularly our room steward Tri. He was wonderful. The waiters were all great as well.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
It was an older ship, but it was as good as shape as it could be.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
I knew that the staterooms were going to be small, so it was expected.
The family did 2 excursions. My daughters went to the Mayan ruins and they had a great time. The rest of our family took a snorkeling excursion and it was ok. I thought the beaches would be cleaner, but they had too much seaweed and parts of the beach were really stinky. They took us out snorkeling further out, so we didn't have to deal with the smell.
My son didn't have a passport, so I had to wait in a long line with him to process the birth certificate. The rest of the family with passports went right through the checkout process.
