Review summary

It was great because we had never been to Belize and Costa Maya before, but we would not be taking this cruise again, since the boat was so old, and the excursions were lacking.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Speedy and boardee with ease

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food has been better on other cruises, especially the buffet, but the service mre than makes up for it.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Kids did water slides and mini golf. Hubby and I relaxed in the thermal spa and got massages. Massage wasn't as good as the one we received off the ship and they just try and sell you stuff. Also used the casino. Slots are definitely not set to the same payouts as regular on land casino. and the smoke is a but much.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Singers were amazing. They were typical for a cruise, but they had a few very talented singers that made the shows.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Kids loved camp. I had one in Camp Ocean and one in teen camp. They made friends and enjoyed the activities. They stayed over for Night Owls just because they were enjoying it so much.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our Lead Waiter, Alan and his crew, Erik and Eka were the best. We got to spend so much time getting to know them and they definitely learned our likes and dislikes by the first night. Alan is a wonderful singer and he entertained us nightly with magic tricks. He is deserving of a promotion. Our Steward Tri was also the nicest person and worked tirelessly to keep everyone clean and happy.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
This is an old ship, and it shows its age. Things are definitely needs for repairs and window cleaning.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
There was plenty of space but there are only two outlets in the room (bathroom and cabin) so you need to make sure and bring a power strip. Also, the balcony shows paint rust, and the adjoining balcony door was broken so it made noise all day and night.

Ship tip

Bring a power strip, don't waste your money on Wi-Fi, since it is very spotty and always crashing. There are not that many family friendly activities so plan on doing a lot of your own stuff on board.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

3 out of 5
Port was small but well organized. Not enough spaces for buses and shuttles to park. Staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed at a hotel on the seawall and the beach day was wonderful.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

2 out of 5
Very dirty, not many sites to see at all We did a Jeep tour with tequila tasting and beach day with lunch. Don't waste your time on Jeep tour (although guide was wonderful). Find a place to eat, do not get the excursion food. It was horrible. Just spend your day at the beach.

Belize City, Belize

5 out of 5
We did the cave tubing excursion with lunch. Lunch was the best meal we had on the cruise. The experience was amazing and highly recommended. Our guide was a delight and very knowledgeable.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
We did the Passion Island excursion. The island was wonderful, the food was good, and the beach massage was pricey but good. It is a long boat ride to and from and you don't get very much time on the island.

Disembarkation

A lot of people just left when it wasn't their turn making it chaotic and long. Once we did get called, we got off smoothly because we had passports.
