We went on this cruise for a little winter getaway and it did not disappoint! We had heard Carnival was a “party” line so we hesitated but were glad to see there were also many young families aboard and people of all ages. The staff and crew were fabulous and did everything possible to make this a relaxing and pleasant vacation.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We got on quickly and everyone was helpful and welcoming.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We ate in the main dining room every night. The food and service was very good.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We visited the spa and fitness center several times. The steam room in the spa locker rooms was very good. I thoroughly relaxed with the spa treatments. We liked lounging in the adults-only Serenity area. The pools were all refreshing but the hot tubs weee not hot, just warm, nor were the jets forceful, more like sitting in a bath tub.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The entertainment was okay, did not wow us. We did enjoy the country duo very much (quite talented). We found ourselves wanting a little less loud music and a little more quiet.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
They could not have been more helpful or more courteous! Very humble, hard working people who obviously aim to please, including our cabin steward Sapta, the dining staff including Francis and many others and the spa staff including Joyjia, Salome and Azai.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Everything was clean. The only negative is the cigarette smoke from the casino drifted into the shopping areas and so we avoided this. What we couldn’t avoid was walking through the casino to get to certain spots on the boat. I tried to just breathe through my mouth not to smell it but it was very unpleasant.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Plenty of room, nice shower, very clean.
Ship tip
Try all the little eateries for lunch. Try the main sit-down restaurant for breakfast and dinner.
No excursion but walked around the little port village and did a little shopping. It was nice to get off the boat, people were friendly, beee was cold.
Glad that you experienced the truth that Carnival is NOT a "party" line. I've been on RCL twice and Carnival 24 times. If there IS a "party" line, RCL gets my vote.
You should of stopped by the Burgundy lounge for PraiseAtSea gospel concerts! Even the crew love it and while we have a private sign, they do get visitors coming in. And WED night we took over the pool deck on deck 10 LOL- 3 people were baptized in the pool and afterward we took over part of the buffet for WED night live with the Chandlers, they can be found on the book on their The Chandlers page.
