Review summary

As always, we had a wonderful time on the Dream. It was the third time that my dad and I have sailed the Dream. We met many wonderful crew and had a relaxing & fun time as usual.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
This departure was a little more challenging than the past. For some reason this weekend, the Triumph and the dream embarkation was delayed.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I ate in the Scarlett MDR, the Lido buffet, Pizzeria del Capitano, Guy's Burger Joint, Guy's Pig & Anchor BBQ, and the Pasta Bar on deck 11. I did not have any issues with the food during my cruise. However, when you order from the omelet station, the side meats can cool down quickly.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
As always, I enjoyed the "hidden" hot tubs on deck 11 when the ship stopped at a port. However, on sea days it is very hard to find a chair, get in the pool, or get in a hot tub.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I saw Flick, America Rocks, and the 80's show. All of the shows were amazing but my personal favorite was America Rocks! All rock music from the 70's & 80's, all music from my younger days! I saw some other various performers at different venues and they were all good.

Children's Programs

My dad and I sailed. He is 81 and I am 55.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I always thoroughly enjoy meeting crew members every time that I sail. My dad and I met more wonderful crew this sailing as well. We met Mihaela and Miljana at the Lido Deck buffett and saw them every day! They are wonderful young ladies. We also saw them almost every night in the Scarlett Dining Room where they worked the dinner shift. Our servers in the MDR (Gede, Andy, and Alain) were fabulous every night. Gede was hilarious, especially his "pole" dance! We met another wonderful young lady named Claudia who served desserts at lunch on the Lido Deck and worked on the Steakhouse at night. She was fabulous! Probably the most fun, positive, and energetic crew member was Natalie who is part of the Fun Squad. She is an absolute blast and loves wearing crazy socks!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
This was my third time on the Dream and it is always clean and well maintained. I think the layout could be improved as there were spaces that seemed like "this space for rent." Also, the upper level of the mid-ship dining room (Crimson) needs some help. For whatever reason, there is a hallway next to the dining room was is normal. However, there is nothing blocking the view for the passengers eating next to the windows looking into this hallway. Some curtains should be put up for passenger privacy at dinner.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Standard balcony cabin that had plenty of storage and was very clean. We always get a cabin with a balcony.

Ship tip

One thing that I recommend to to take the time to meet and talk with the crew. They are all very hard working people away from home for long periods of time. Being kind has taken us a long way.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

5 out of 5
This is where we embark and disembark. As it is just a three hour drive with a short break from my house, we just drive down the morning of to embark. The embarkation and disembarkation has always been pretty quick and easy.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

4 out of 5
We did not have an excursion planned. We walked around the vendor stores set up just outside of the terminal. We got to interact with many local people and also ran into one of our crew friends while off of the ship.

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
We really loved Grand Cayman as it is beautiful there. It is a tender port and sometimes tendering can be a chore. We did the Explore Cayman by Land & sea tour. We got to visit Hell, visit the Turtle Centre, stopped at a rum cake factory, and rode in a semi-submersible sub. While the tour was interesting, it was just too much to do in the time allotted. The visit to the Turtle Centre was awesome and the ride in the semi-submersible submarine was fun. While eating lunch after the tour at the Green Parrot (located at the harbor), our server recommended visiting the Turtle Centre by using a local tour.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We always enjoy Cozumel but since it was our fifth time there, we didn't do much. We spent time walking around the Puerta Maya shopping area and visiting the stores. As is our usual, we ended up at Fat Tuesday's. We love going there and sitting by the water. We always get Javier as our waiter as he is awesome!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Smooth and easy disembarkation.
