Review summary

Awesome itinerary to escape the cold! From massages to history to tropical drinks we had a little bit of everything on this trip and it was perfect way to unwind and recharge between semesters. Came home looking like Christmas gingerbread while everyone else was pale and cold. Would turn around and go again.

SO much smoother than previous Jacksonville experience. Still don't understand the point of selecting a time if they just let everyone line up as they get there but still much quicker and smoother than previous.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate in the main dining room every night as I enjoy slipping on a dress and the date like experience that we don't get much at home. Tried several dishes every night. There was only one night we weren't really impressed with. Sahbi was the best at recommending dishes and making it a fun experience.

Onboard Activities

This was my biggest complaint. BF was really looking forward to the hot tubs and only 2 on the entire ship were actually hot. They were always packed and the rest were luke warm or flat out cold. Carnival should be better on this for what we pay for cruising.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We went to a couple of the shows and the lip-sync competition. All were good quality and enjoyable. I always expect a bit of "cheese" on cruise ships not broadway. Also thoroughly enjoyed Kemar's sing-alongs at the piano bar. It was always a fun party vibe and no one took themselves seriously. I enjoy karaoke but they only had it a couple nights at weird times so this was a fun alternative.

Service and Staff

Sahbi was awesome in the dining room. Our room steward was great as well. He always greeted us by name and our room was always clean.

Ship Quality

Looks like they could have a hallway around the dining rooms or something instead of having to take extra elevators up and around and back down, etc. Again, hot tubs needed maintaining.

Cabin / Stateroom

We knew it was going to be small. We booked the cheap seats. It made good use of the space and everything was very comfortable. The shower occasionally ran into the bathroom floor when it didn't drain fast enough but other than adding a taller lip around it not sure what could be done about it.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

Much easier parking and getting on and off boat than previous port. Make sure and grab some beignets at Cafe du Monde while you're in town.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

We did a beach day. The vendors are kind of excessive but it was relaxing. The massage was heavenly. Need signs pointing the way out of the port for those trying to exit for excursions but that is all of them.

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

This was one of my favorites. We went through Victor Bodden and had a personal tour guide. Got to snuggle with sloths which was amazing. Got a full tour of the island, shopping, stopped at local grocery store for vanilla, and still had some time to browse around at port. Want to go back and spend some time here.

Belize City, Belize

Beautiful place, definitely has its rougher areas. We went to Altun Ha ruins which were a sight to see. Stopped at a local place for lunch. We went through ShoreExcursioneer for our excursions instead of carnival and saved a ton of $$.

Cozumel, Mexico

Again, needs some signs pointing the way out of port! It is an hour time difference than ship time which we did not realize until off the boat. Luckily, we got off early and were the only ones booked on our tour so our guide was still waiting. We did Cantina Hopping on the East Side. Gorgeous!! We stopped several places around town for pictures on the way out then got to the less crowded side. Looked like the movies. Coconuts was such a cool place I could've spent the afternoon there. One of the highest points on the island and just a fun funky place. Try the Banana Mama!! From there went to Welcome to Miami another local spot with hammocks and great margaritas. I wasn't as impressed with the last cantina we went to but I'm not a beer drinker. It was a really fun day and our guide Isla knew everyone on the island.

Much quicker and smoother than previous experiences.
