Review summary

We have done most of these ports before. The only reason we did this Cruise was because it left out of New Orleans where we had never been and was quite an experience. We have also never been to Costa Maya. This port is a built-up cruise terminal port. The other ports we love so we did not mind going back to.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was very smooth considering the size of the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was the best part of the cruise. Rarely did we eat on the buffet. The dining room offered a great selection every night.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We did not engage in many activities other than the comedy shows. We wanted to use the Spa's they were dirty, nasty, and this is right after a bunch of people were in it.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Comedy shows were great.

Children's Programs

We did not have kids with us.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
I was disappointed with the quality of the cabin steward. Rarely did I ever see him. He serviced our room once a day. It could have gotten by with service once a day if you would have provided extra towels. He knew this from day one but still did not assist us. We had to call.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship is laid out like all of the other ships. I am concerned that the size of the public areas such as the Lido deck seating and the bars are identical to the smaller ships but yet you've got twice as many passengers. I noticed dirty glasses and empty bottles all over the hallways and stairways. There was not staff constantly patrolling like they're normally is.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin itself was wonderful.

Ship tip

Remember you are on a ship with over 4000 passengers and only 1,500 staff. This is not a luxury Cruise. This is a family oriented inexpensive Cruise.

You missed so much in Costa Maya we love this port we walk out of the port area hired a golf buggy and drove our selfs all around Costa Maya ending up at a beautiful beach with beach markets awesome food and cocktails 🍹 in front of the restaurant along the beach they have beach umbrellas and deck chairs as long as you buy a drink you can stay the water 💦 was blue and beautiful and warm the people were friendly and the cocktails to die for next time get out of the port and see Costa Maya .... it's a shame when people stay in the port and say " there is nothing here " you missed what Costa Maya is all about it's awesome...
