Review summary

First, my expectations were rather low. Carnival has a reputation for being a budget line and I was not expecting to enjoy as much as I did. Carnival exceeded my expectations. I experienced only one real issue during the entire cruise which was not really Carnival's fault, a group of rude teens about a dozen hanging out in the 11th floor elevator lobby were very loud and rude. It was the only time when I felt uncomfortable. I called guest services who disbanded them in about half an hour. The cruise excursion rep did meet my low expectations as well as the bar service at Iguana and bar service in the Casino. This was my second cruise this year, the first a cruise on Disney Dream. Every other aspect of the Carnival Dream exceeded my expectations. Lee the Cruise Director and the Scarlett Dining Room Staff were excellent. On Disney, the service in the dining room for dinner only was excellent; i found that the service during other times was very poor on Disney. On Carnival Dream, the service in the dining room was excellent for all meals. My family booked an excursion in Belize through Carnival that was late to port....the ship waited for them. In Cozumel, a group was left in port; they did not book their excursion through Carnival. Will try to book a short cruise later this year and the same itinerary next year with friends. The value I received on Carnival was excellent and I will be back.

Embarkation

Because we had a suite, we were told by some people we would have early access and by others that there was no early access. Our room was ready for early access, we could have been in an hour ealier. A small issue, but irritating since we had to lug our carryon from 11 to 4/5 several times.

Ship Quality

The ship was clean. It is showing a little wear and tear. Lots of staff cleaning all the time to keep up with the crowded ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

Spa Suite on 11th Floor was great. The only downside was getting an elevator from the 11th floor. Distance to 3rd Floor dining room was a hike.

Ship tip

The ship was so big, didn't get to enjoy all of the facilities during the 7 night cruise.

Scbeachmom we felt the same about Carnival, not expecting much. Boy were we surprised. We had the time of our lives on the Dream last Sept. We partied, danced, ate, drank waaay to much, day and night and had a blast. Chris Williams, the "flying Scotsman", CD was phenomenal. We had an aft cabin for the first time and that too was awesome. No complaints at all. Kudos to all the staff.
