I am on vacation. I try not to let things get me down, but this cruise was a little harder to that. Given the some of the staff was unresponsive and unprofessional and the entire sintistikn of the linen closets and the grotesque odor leaving the room because of the paint thinner. I can honestly say that I will not be traveling with Carnival Dream for a good long while. I hope that if I speak with a crew member on something that should be reported or updated on, that it gets done.

I dealt with some crew members that were unprofessional. One crew member, told me that they were going to get someone to investigate a foul odor of Paint thinner from the linens closests kn my floor. Which I don’t believe happens because the rooms were the exact same way through the cruise. I spoke with another 3 different crew members one night because the hot tub was not working and they all told me they were going to have someone take a look at it. My family and I sat in the tub for about 45 mins to an hour and no one came to us Or gave us any update and I spoke with 3 different crew members.

While on my cruise I was really close to a linen closet, well during the cruise they decided they were going to repaint the doors of the linen closet. Now the first thing that ran through my mind was, why couldn’t this wait? But hey, things gotta get done, okay. The smell was absolutely horrid. It was a paint-thinner, ghastly odor. Every time I walked by to get other parts of the ship, now mind you my room isn’t too far from both of the linen closest, I would just get sick to my stomachs and start to get a huge headache. This happen through-out the last days of my cruising. It was getting to the point, where I feel like I could smell it from my room. I called the stewardess and they told me to speak with guest services. So, I make my way passing the foul odor, and spoke with guest services. I then spoke with a crew memwber with guest services that wasn’t very helpful. She said that she will be sending someone down to investigate. At first she did believe me, and I offered to escort her down there and proved to her that the odor was strong. She then went on to tell me about having someone go down there. Now whether that happe, I’m not sure. No one came to my cabin and every time I would check to see if the rooms have been touched or at least The door closed, everything was the exact same way. I went back to guest services and spoke with the same crew member and she stated that I am to speak with Carnival once we land. I explained some of the symptoms I was having from the foul odor and she then suggested I go to the nurse’s station on board. I kindly told, that was not possible because I was just fine before I got on the ship and why should I have to pay to feel better because Carnival wanted to paint the floors closest to paying customers cabins. She then suggested again to call carnival. Which I will be doing. But I needed to get this off of my chest. I think that the way this situation was handled was unprofessional. I tried not to let it ruin my whole vacation but it did put quite a damper on things. :(

As given my statement in the cleanliness of the ship, my cabin was just fine until Carnival wanted to paint the floors of the linen closets on my floor and have it effect me physically and when addressed, nothing was done.
Ship tip
Make sure you call ahead of time and make sure they aren’t doing any harsh chemical cleanings on your floor.
Wow Jessemlopez that’s the longest post I’ve seen in a very long time. I’m sure your aware Carnival has nothing to do with this app. Or it’s post. But that is who you need to speak to. Sorry you had a bad experience. Cruising is not for everyone.
I have a rare lung disease and bronchial asthma on oxygen. I don't go near hot tubs , smoking areas, or where I see chemicals. I would have asked to be moved. If totally filled ask them to ask MD if masks would help and please provide. Last find a chair outside. Call corporate.
After reading all this, I see you did go to guest services.... the interest I have in this is that 2 of my children have allergies and react to some strong smells. For people with sensitivity, this is an issue. Sorry this happened, but not sure what carnival can do about it. They are constantly working on the ship.
Why not go to guest services if you had an issue ? Speaking to a crew member chances are nothing will happen which is what happened..why let it spoil your vacation ?
