Review summary

Won't be going on another cruise. I guess we aren't cruise type people. There just wasn't enough time at each port and I felt rushed when we were there.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
The porters at the cruise terminal took the time to make sure my bags were tagged correctly even though I didn't print out enough tags. The cruise terminal people were friendly enough. The other cruise passengers were the rude ones.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was really good even at the buffet. The dining room had a nice variety as well. The bartenders were all rude except the ones at the Alchemy bar so we kept going back there. The other bartenders ignored you, gave you watered down drinks (especially in the adult Serenity section) and were overall just unresponsive.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The water-slide was very fun. I totally enjoyed it.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The DJ's were great at the club. Didn't see any of the stage shows since they didn't appeal to me.

Children's Programs

No children. However, the ones that were onboard were constantly screaming and hitting all of the buttons on the elevators

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our room steward was great. We had an issue with our shower and the maintenance person showed up very promptly. The waiters were great in the dining room and the people at the buffet were helpful. Again, the only people on board that I had an issue with were the bartenders and during debarkation the staff was very demanding and rude. It was like, "Ok we are done with you, GET OUT".

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Was a typical Carnival layout and design.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The room was fine for 3 people and i'm glad we had the balcony. It made all the difference.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

Love New Orleans!

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

No excursion. We went to the beach that was right next to where we docked. It was very relaxing. I had a great time and the shopping was the best at this port. Not enough time in port.

Belize City, Belize

We went snorkeling directly off the ship. The excursion picked us up for a 45 min boat ride to a deserted island. Sounds great, huh? Well $7 for a small glass of rum punch while we waited for snorkeling gear to be available since they didn't have enough for everyone later, we started our snorkeling trip. Have to say that the guides were awesome and that we saw allot of stuff. Got back to the boat and took a tinder to shore where there was a little shopping but not much. Mostly cheap stuff. Not enough time in port.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Again took an excursion but we had to take a 45 min ferry ride to Playa del Carmen. The excursion was the caves tour which was totally worth it. They had 400+ people that they had to get back to the ship, so after our excursion we had to stay in Playa del Carmen for any shopping we wanted to do. The trip back to Cozumel was another 45 min, and we had to rush to the ship in order to get back on time. No time in Cozumel to do any shopping or see anything. Not enough time in port.

Disembarkation

Staff was demanding and rude.

Yep cruising is not for everyone we have not been ready to return to the ship most times 8 hrs is enough time to get a feel for the places and if you research and plan can have a ball 80 days until we leave Australia for our next adventure cruise 19 have been to amazing places and have great memory's it's great to not have to worry about dragging your luggage around and airports !! But to each there own happy flying ,,,,,😎

To each his own if it's not for you than at least you gave it a shot. I love cruising but have had people prefer to do all inclusive resorts instead. Nothing wrong with it. I hope it was at least a fun trip.

You go on a cruise for the Cruise. To me the ports are just a bonus.

What about the cruise itself? The onboard experience....food/activities/service.

You just need to plan a little better. I have been on 4 cruises and always made it back in plenty of time.

I think cruising is supposed to give you a little taste of most places. Then the places you love the most, you plan a land trip. I've always had at least 8 hours at each port which was more than enough time for me.
