Review summary

We have just returned from cruising the Western Caribbean aboard The Carnival Dream. This was our first time upon a cruise ship and were lucky enough to bring the whole family, a family of five. The ages of our children range from 7, 8, and 14. The Carnival Dream was just that, an absolute dream vacation for us. I am still in shock that we were ever so fortunate to have had such a magnificent time! Our family has definitely caught the cruise fever and are already planning another vacation next year!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We found Jeff the Fun Dude to be not so fun and quite rude during the family showtimes. On several occasions, he managed to single out families who had loud children in the audience.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Our children, who age from 7, 8, and 14 begged to go their clubs at night. The only time we saw our 14 year old son was during dinner and excursions!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The kids looked forward to what towel creature awaited us after dinner!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was massive and oh so beautiful! Between the water slides, 24hr pizza and ice cream, camp carnival and circle C, movie time under the stars on the main deck (Lido deck), my children were quite entertained!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We traveled with the whole family, a family of 5. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the fact that there was 2 showers in the stateroom! This made clean up time a breeze after a day of excursions and fun! The size of the stateroom accomodated our family well!

Ports of call

Belize City, Belize

Okay, so for our family we decided to do a beach excursion in Belize. Belize is home to the 2nd largest barrier reef (Ambergris Caye) so my husband wanted to try snorkeling here! After we disembarked the tender boats, we found an outside company to take us to Goff's Caye! Goff's Caye is a small private island in the middle of the ocean about 30-45 minutes off the coast of Belize City! This island, about the size of a football, was paradise! It was everything you would imagine paradise to look like with it's white sandy beaches and varying shades of clear blue water! I highly recommend doing this excursion if and when in Belize City! Oh the rum punch included with this excursion was delicious! My family and I are still glowing from the beauty of this slice of heaven we found!

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

All I can say is Chacchoben ruins! Google it! It was awesome!

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
An island tour was the way we decided to go in Roatan! This was great because we got to learn about the different types of vegetation found on the island. Our guide even took us to a little monkey park, where we were able to interact with them!

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Cozumel was just a day of shopping for our family. We did not do any excursions at this port! There was plenty to see and do in downtown.

Recommends Carnival Dream? Yes!
