Review summary

Recently sailed on the Carnival Dream from Port Canaveral, Florida. The ship is beautiful and we had the most spacious cabin and best food we've ever had. However, I will not sail on Carnival again because of their promotion of alcohol and the number of intoxicated people we encountered. I believe in drinking responsibly. Many of their activities seemed to encourage drinking without thought to the amount.

The juggler and outside dancers were the best shows we saw. Sound is amped so high that it's difficult to hear the singers. The female singer screamed on high notes. We gave up on the shows and went to smaller venues that weren't so loud.

The two-hour drive was a bit foreboding but worth it to see the Xunantunich ruins. Our guides were excellent and friendly. Traditional lunch was good and very efficient.

Maya Key Private Island Retreat was a fun, relaxing day. However, we did miss out on seeing local Roatan and its people. Mahogany Bay where we docked was rather Disney-esque but the local market in the back offered very nice products made by locals.

The Jungle each Break was a waste because of all the drunks. The description online did not mention an open bar. The beach itself was beautiful but a highly intoxicated person took over the mike on the bus on the way back to the ship. Certainly did nothing to counteract that ugly American tourist stereotype.
