Review summary

This was our second trip on the Destiny. Before I had booked I had read complaints about the ship being old and run down and the crowd being overly Hispanic with to many rude an unruly children. I am happy to say that while the ship is older it is still well maintained. The passenger group while indeed diverse and inclusive of teenagers (it is Summer after all) was largely friendly and I very seldom felt that the behavior of others interfered with my personal enjoyment.

Ports of call

Bridgetown, Barbados

We had been here 2x before so again went straight to the beach. The Malibu Rum Factory Tour and Beach is a short $10 cab ride from the dock. For $10 you get a tour of the factory, a drink, nice changing facilities as well as a bar and food stand. Their are free Umbrellas and chairs and the sand and water were beautiful. There are many of other beautiful beaches in Barbados if you want to travel farther.
Don't Miss: Any beautiful beach

We booked ahead directly with Cosol Tours for a 5 hour island tour of the Pitons, volcano, waterfall, swimming and several food stops. It was a very nice tour and well worth $45 price. Cosol himself over saw a 3 small bus caravan which stopped numerous times to sample local food and serve beverages (all included). eQuipment was air conditioned 16 passenger small Toyota busses with 7 or 8 people each. Be aware that St. Lucia is very mountainous and while the roads were good they are constantly winding up and down.If it is 5 minutes by air it is 2 hours by car. I expect that some of the food stops with bread based food seved might be to avoid some people from getting car sick.
Don't Miss: Pitons and local food and beer

Roseau, Dominica

A seemingly poor and very mountainous island with little in the way of beaches. We did a several hour tour with Lybo's Tours off the dock gong to Emerald Pool (OK but a decent walk to a very rocky area in a gorge with a pool and small waterfall feeding it - very crowded) Mr Nice fruit stand (excellect showman) Botanical Garden (a real stretch - think small Park). The tour was well delivered though and worth the $25 we paid. The people are obviously proud of their island.

Again to the beach. There are to many good ones to mention. We have not toured the island. We took a $10? cab ride to runaway Beach where we found food, bar and changing facilities as well as Umbrellas, Tikis and chairs to rent. Beach and water were great. we rented Jet Ski's for $45/half hour and I saw others down the beach riding horses
Don't Miss: Beaches

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

We had been here 3x before so we just opted for the beach We chose Coki Beach based on the Taxi Drivers recommendation. It was a fairly small but nice beach with very clear water. We did not snorkel or Dive but others were. Umbrellas and chairs were readily available to rent and a couple of bars provided food and beverage service right on the beach.
Don't Miss: Beaches, Shopping and St. John if you have the time

Pros: Port variety along with great food tastefully presented by an efficient smiling and entertaining Dining Room staff

Cons: Small cabin and mediocre entertainment
