Review summary

We sailed on the Destiny for our honeymoon. We knew the ship was recently refurbished and renovated, but wow!! It was in great shape!! EXTREMEMLY CLEAN!!!! Staff was very polite, curteous, friendly, made you feel at home and you got whatever you wanted. Only negative was the odor from the buffet bar towards the end of the week.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Numerous dining options.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Excursions are expensive if you book thru the cruise line. Can save money by getting tours when you get into port with the natives.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
very friendly and willing to help whenever needed

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
VERY CLEAN and WELL KEPT!!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
If you take this cruise, you must get a balcony room!! Bathroom is nice size. Stateroom was in great condition.

Ports of call

Castries, St. Lucia

5 out of 5
We fell in love with St Lucia!! Could spend a week here easily!! Absolutely gorgeous and stunning views. Locals are friendly! Booked a tour thru a local once in port. Tour is by speedboat and then a van to volcano, waterfall, botanical gardens and thru souifree (a town). Then back on boat for more tour of the Petons, a Bat Cave, Marigot Beach, snorkeling and swimming. THIS TOUR DONE BY BOAT is a MUST!!!!
Don't Miss: The Petons, Waterfall, Marigot Beach

St. John's, Antigua

3 out of 5
we did the historic antigua and beach tour - it's not the best tour. but it gets you the basics and 2 hours at a beach.
Don't Miss: Nelsons Shipyard

Bridgetown, Barbados

3 out of 5
Tour will take you to see where Tiger Woods got married, Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes' Barbados estate, sugar cane plantation farms, Slave houses and slave monument, the green monkeys. The beaches in Barbados are BEAUTIFUL!!!
Don't Miss: The oldest Angelic Church in Barbados. Green Monkeys. BEACHES!!!

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
Once in port take a taxi to Charlotte Amalie. Once there book a tour with Raymond. He gives an excellent tour of the islands must see sites and makes stops to take photo's. Once the tour is finsihed you get 2 hours at the beach!!
Don't Miss: Magens Bay/Beach - gorgeous & Downtown

Roseau, Dominica

we were not impressed with Dominica. Once you step off the cruise ship expect to be hageled by natives wanting to take you on tours, sell you stuff etc. They do NOT leave you alone. It's sad, we ended up buying sovenours and spending the day on the cruise ship. Natives follow you EVERYWHERE!!
Don't Miss: We did hear though the don't miss site here is to go to one of the Black Sanded beaches.

Pros: ship had numerous dinner options (i.e. formal dining room, buffet, bistro, pizza, grille, chinese, different nation of the day etc)

Cons: only negative thing is you are seated with other people in the dining room. it would be nice if you had different people each night but its always the same.

Recommends Carnival Destiny (RETIRED) 28? Yes!
