Review summary

It’s a vacation and we had a good time. But, there were too many unruly kids, too many obnoxious drunks, and too many rude entitled people. This honestly isn’t something we’re used to on Carnival and we are kinda bummed about it.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was good. Waitstaff was good but not great. Didn’t seem to want to interact as much with us as usual. Bar waiters were excellent, as usual—hustled and I never waited for a drink.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Not a whole lot of trivia during times when I would have like to play. Aft pool closed most of the first day. Fitness center was great — went every day. Really appreciated the daily Hanukkah service. The negative was that they played Christmas music EVERY SINGLE DAY of the cruise. It got really old and they would not change it.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Bands were very good. Comedians were very funny. Karaoke is always something else. We didn’t go to any of the shows because we’ve seen them several times already. Carnival needs to refresh their shows.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
We saw our room steward twice during the cruise. He didn’t replace glasses and sometimes pool towels. Very disappointing. Most other crew was good but no one wowed us.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship was clean but showing signs of age and in desperate need of a dry dock.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Typical balcony cabin. Not that much storage—one closet only had one useable shelf. Room is above the nightclub and you might hear music.

Ship tip

The Alchemy bar is busy when it first opens!

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
Fun to walk around Old San Juan. Not much open because it was Christmas Day.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
You don’t need an excursion. Just sit by the pool at the cruise port and enjoy the port.

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
Head down to Jack’s Shack for a good time! Free chairs and strong drinks.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
Always beautiful. We did a catamaran sail to St John.

Too many unruly kids is my exact reason i'll never ever never do a Christmas Cruise, any major holiday cruise, nor cruise when kids are out of school. Never as in the word NEVER

This ship even has an adults only pool! Perfect for escaping kids.

Well after 70 cruises with carnival , there is always an up and down ! But , you should know to never go during school vacations . As far as kids running wild ... that is why animals eat their young . Lol

We avoid cruising during school holidays and summer break. Too many kids running wild. It's not worth the aggravation.

Hope you enjoy your next cruise.

Kids running wild seems to be common these days. Parents want to be their friends and not their parents. I have the same problem with kids at restaurants.

We were on the Conquest in March. Didn't have any of the problems you did with kids, drunks and adults. Probably the time of year you went. Out of our 10 cruises and the Conquest being our only Carnival cruise, it was one of our favorites.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I hope that your next cruise is better.

We have found that rude people aren’t the trend of cruisers lately as well. Hopefully, 2020 will bring better fellow passengers. If not, back to enjoying those with a similar attitude as we have.😎

You went on a Christmas cruise. Then you complain about Christmas music, too many kids and entitled drunks. What did you expect???

Glad that you could at least enjoy the ports of call!
