Review summary

Cruise was great as expected. There were minor issues. The biggest issue I have is gratuities. I want to tip co not get me wrong but give me the choice. Gratuity is for service rendered not doing your job. Does a waiter tip a bartender each time they get a drink? No never that is his job. but yet I go to a bar and get a beer. my gratuity is automatically taken and then I am asked for additional tip on receipt. Unacceptable. If you have four people in your cabin should each guest be charged a gratuity. No in what country do kids tip? So why am I being charged for extra people in room. completely unacceptable.

Corporate Sanctioned gratuities via cruiselines are a problem and somewhat a scam. I don't believe in Corporate Sanctioned Gratuities. I personally leave hefty tips to waiters, house keeping and wherever applicable

When it comes to the tipping , just go to guest services desk and ask them to put all moneys for gratuities back on your credit card , and you will take care of all tips . Then ask for envelopes to hand to all those people you. Want to tip . The help on the ship do not receive the tips from your account for 30 days after you are off the ship . After 65 cruises . We have learned all of these things about cruises . And the do,s and fonts .

I believe there is a way you can let them know you want to tip in cash instead charging your cash card/ship sailing card

Yeah, tipping is considered a normal occurrence anytime you go out. People who work on cruise ships, people who wait ables and tend bar in restaurants all depend on tips for the bulk of their income, too. And in the old days, yes, servers used to tip out the bartenders a nominal amount for getting their cocktails ready in a timely manner. The original meaning of TIPS is To Insure Prompt Service. Anywhere you go, take a look and see the folks who seem to always get taken care of right away. It's all about respect. If you've ever worked in any of the service industries you'd understand this.

Try working at a restaurant that caters to family with kids. They leave big messes and small tips. some of the Cruise ship tips go to people you never see, behind the scenes. Loosen your purse strings.

Goodness if you can't be happy on vacation well save your tips and "stay home " what's a tip big deal if that was you scrubbing and serving all day !!! Would you want a tip !!!! ????

Definitely agree with jenn2831. If tipping doesn’t agree with you than don’t go cruising. Although you liked the ports you went to and a few other things, you don’t need to cruise for that. You go work on a ship for a day and see how you would feel without any tips.

Of course kids tip too! They make messes in the room and eat ! Do you go out for dinner and only tip in the cost of the adults meals? Get a grip cheapo.

Glad you enjoyed your cruise in spite of your complaint. I admire any crew that works Thanksgiving, Spring Break, Christmas, and New Years. The extra people and/or partiers has to be challenging. The “old days” of top notch food with greater numbers of passengers is gone, sadly.

I 100% support cruise lines tipping policies personally and we always tip additional cash to bar tenders steward and wait staff that provide great service. These ppl work incredibly hard for little pay and do exceptional jobs. In many other countries tipping is not customary so to me the policy just helps even things out and reward the workers. All just my opinion

Glad you enjoyed

Glad you enjoyed your cruise. I am afraid the staff wouldn't get paid very well if they didn't have the tip policy
