I was disappointed. I used to encourage others to go Carnival, but for the first time, it felt like a discount, disappointing cruise line. I'm not sure i will risk the expense with Carnival again. This may be the trip that makes me go to another cruise line. From the service, to the maintenance, to the food...Another problem was the Carnival hub app. After working with the desk for an hour, we STILL could not get the chat to function on my phone. It had worked the first 1.5 days, and then nothing. Very frustrating. The charge was credited back to me, but i don't feel it should have been charged in the first place. I have to say i greatly disagree with how my overall rating has been calculated. Because i loved our port and excursion experiences, it gives a 3.5, however, my ship rating would only be a 3 at the most. I feel 2 would be more accurate.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
We did faster to the fun, so the express part of it was good, but we had no embarkation photo(?) Also, it was really strange, once we were on the ship, people who did not to FTTF were there also, and asking us how we got our keys(?) How did we all get on the ship at the same time, when we paid extra to do so, and how did check in work that people weren't getting keys?
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The drinks were really good, the food was...fine. Some of the buffet food wasn't great, same with the main dining room.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The bands and musicians were enjoyable.
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
Room stewards were attentive, however, the remote in both our room and our friends room were not working correctly. In fact, when we first got to the room, we HAD NO REMOTE and i had to wave the steward down to get one, then it still didn't work correctly. The service in the main dining room was...I'm sorry to say...awful. We would sit and stare at our drinks and food, waiting for it to be served. And not just for a couple minutes...but for a WHILE. Room service was terrible. We would order, but only receive the parts they decided to give us. Or give us our cereal, but not the milk. Which was good, cuz they also didn't give us bowls...or spoons. Just awful.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
I though things could have been cleared a lot faster than they were...
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
Comfort and size were great, cleanliness was fine. I found grime in the shower area which was disappointing, but the worst part was a creak in the ceiling, and marks where someone had evidently attempted to quiet it, but it didn't work...carpet on the kick plate of our drawer had pulled off, i kept trying to stick it back on, again, no t.v. remote until i asked for one.
Ship tip
Try another ship. I hope this ship experience was a one-off. It felt like we were on a ship that was for training its employees. I was NOT impressed.
Thanks for the review. Bad reviews help as much or more than the good ones. Everyone has different experiences...sometimes even on the same boat at the same time.
We now have 70 cruises we have been on and conquest is our favorite . We do all of them for 2 weeks at a time . And anytime there is a problem , we go to our steward or guest services , and it is usually all taken care of . And as far as the keys issue , they are in the mail box . They have been doing that for years .and as far as the MDR it has been going DOWN hill for years , the food and service on all the ships has been lousy , I have to agree . At least at the buffet , you can serve your self and go . Don't have to waste 3 hours in the MDR .
I don't think I believe this horrible review. We were on the Conquest in March and out of the 10 cruises we have been, multiple cruise lines, the Conquest was one of our favorites. The ship is well played out, beautiful decor and absolutely delicious dinners in MDR every night. We also had breakfast in MDR 04r morning. The staff was great. Loved our cabin and my daughter and her family had a cabin right next us. Cabin steward was able to connect our balconies makng one large balcony. Our ports were fantastic and again, it was one of our favorite cruises.
Last couple cruises we’ve seen that keys are now delivered to stateroom rather than at embarkation to expedite embarkation process is my understanding. We’ve had a cabin with ceiling creaking and agree it’s annoying, but I always travel with earplugs. These issues could never ruin my cruise 🍹 🏝 🛳
We love both Carnival and RC- the only 2 we been on- no complaints here!
Maybe those other people are frequent cruisers so boarded before FTTF. We got it last Febr for the first time and loved it! Was so nice to have our room ready and luggage there or soon after where so many were waiting and waiting- almost until the ship left.
