Review summary
First off let me start by saying that I have fun on any vacation, just as I did on this one... But overall this cruise was terrible. I was so dissapointed in carnival. The food was mediocre, we ate in the main dinning room, every night but most of the time I only took a few bites of my food. The appetizers and salads and soups were great but the main course itself was where the taste was just not there. We had 2 different servers during the whole cruise... Albert was our first and our favorite he was excellent. He was so attentive and helpful even on nights when he wasnt our server he would still come by and chit chat with us and if we needed anything (because our server those nights sucked) he got it. At no fault to the servers it took over 2 hours for dinner each night, the last night most of our group skipped the dining room because they were tired of wasting 2 plus hours of our evening for food that we didnt even enjoy. Even that night with just a couple it took 2 hours for dinner.
We also love colletcing the colored carnival shot glasses that come with a diffeerent shot each night of the cruise, in our past experiences at dinner a server would come around offering them, well, every single night we asked if they could send him by and out of our 5 nights there we only saw him once some nights they acted like they had no clue what we were talking about.
Our room and steward were great also. We had Jonathan as our steward and we never had to ask for anything he made sure everything was taken care of and restocked! He was so friendly. And did a wonderful job keeping our room clean without disturbing us while we napped etc.
Where the big issues came in were the debarking at each port. There was no organization once so ever. We didn't even get an announcement that we were beginning debarking. Although they said please dont rush down to the gangway we will announce when we are ready to let people off. We had FTTF that we recieved through an upgrade and not once were we ever able to use it because they just let whoever off the ship whenever they felt like it. The worst morning was the morning we tendered at Half Moon Cay. We had FTTF but were told that didn't work for this, that we HAD to go get a tender sticker... So we got up early, were the first in line for stickers... Once our tender was called and we went down they only had ONE kiosk line working to scan sign and sails to let us off the ship, that process itself took 15 minutes once on the tender I began seeing people who didn't have a tender sticker at all and people with tender number 15+ even though only tender 1-4 had been called and no one stopped them. Whats the point of making passengers get a sticker if you're not going to follow through with the process. We wasted our morning getting in line early so we could be one of the first groups off just to see that those who had not waited in line at all were just allowed to get off whenever they feel like it. Not to mention the tender process took forever. It was 11 before we were even on the island. Once getting on the island there were people at 2:30 still just arriving and were being told we had to be off by 3:30. Thankfully none of my group had been that unfortunate. I would have hated paying all that money to see an island for only an hour! And not once did we see our cruise director (Chloe) out handling things... The only time we saw her was during shows or dancing or singing.
Then the debarking back in the states (to go home) was total disater but most of it was not carnivals fault, customs was just incredibly slow that day. But at 12 we were still on the ship. Of course by then everyone was hungry again so they began getting back in line for food and all of a sudden all food lines shut down and we were told we would not be fed lunch because that food was for the next cruise.
Overall this cruise was a mess... We always make the best of our vacations and had fun but in the future if this is not fixed we will not be choosing carnival cruise lines anymore.
