Review summary

We celebrated our 35th anniversary on the Carnival Conquest last week.  Since we took a Carnival Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon it seemed like a good idea and it was!  The ship was nice, the food was great, we enjoyed the on-board entertainment, and the staff catered to our needs.  The ports: Grand Turk, La Romana, D.R., Curacao and Aruba all had beautiful beaches with the sparkling turquoise water and white sand we love.  Grand Turk's beach is conveniently located right by the cruise port--loved that!  The town of La Romana is a little sketchy and unfortunately difficult to shop because the vendors push so hard.  I would have liked to help them out, but I just can't shop under that much pressure.  The architecture and landscape on Curacao and Aruba were so unique.  I just loved them and want to go back.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Many of the on-board activities are designed to encourage guests to spend more money (i.e., casino, bingo, art auctions, shopping events, etc.) But there are many things to do without additional spending , for example, I went to a lovely afternoon tea on our last day at sea .

Cabin / Stateroom

This cabin was very nice with loads of storage, but when you are in the bow of the ship you get some slamming noises that took a little getting used to. Most of the cruise the seas were so calm that we couldn't even feel the movement, but a couple of nights we had some rougher waters and the noise woke us a few times.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

We stayed at the Bahia Mar after we got off the ship and enjoyed our stay. We had a beautiful view of the ocean and enjoyed the pool and beach there.

La Romana, Dominican Republic

Bayahibe Beach is lovely! If you don't like to be harassed by vendors, avoid the town. There are some shopping opportunities at the beach.

Willemstad, Curacao

What a unique city! I walked over the beautifully lit pontoon bridge at night. Loved it! The Manita (formerly Mambo) Beach was beautiful.

Oranjestad, Aruba

We took a taxi to Palm Beach and it was heavenly.

danamike, do you mean serenity deck???  There is a deck with a pool and hot tubs for the over 18 crowd.

Bella, I don't know about renting a car since we did not do that, but I'm sure you could look at up on the internet.
