Too many children by stasea69745207

We had a great time on our cruise, although we went during Spring Break and the kids took over the ship, pool and hot tubs.  The children were unsupervised and they ran around at night up and down the halls, I actually was head butted by a child horse playing around.  Note to self, never take a cruise during Spring Break or any holiday where the kids might be out of school.

Breeze April 4th, 2016 by deronfrye

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Good vacation.  Breeze needs a Dry Dock to upgrade and paint.  Carnival is now charging kids for Chicken Fingers and Pizza from Room Services. This was our 7th cruise on Carnival, and  I will probably cruise Carnival again, but they will not be my preferred choice.  The Fun Ship will lose customers with the nickel and dimming.

Good trip by wbehr7

Had a great time.   Good was good.   They need to leave the speciality food bats open longer.   Like the burrito, Indian, bbq areas.  If you go on land you miss them and can never have them for dinner.

So disappointed! by smparker4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

To start with we booked our flight thru Carnival, and they were the worse travel arraignments we have ever had.   We have cruised with Carnival since 2001 and have previously had a great experience.  This time our room was perfectly fine and our room Stewart did an excellent job, however the dining room had some real issues.  We had to wait an over an hour to be seated on the first elegant night, then the service was so slow that we missed the shows we were looking forward to seeing.  We waited at least 15minutes in between courses.  In the end our waiter was running around with plates of food just handing them out to guests that did not request them.  The overall quality of the food and service was very disappointing.  I had to seek out the MaitreD' to complain about the quality of my food.  We are not sure we would go with Carnival again.

My 50th Birthday Cruise by mlong618

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Ship was huge, beautiful, staff very friendly. Enjoyed our cabin #7459 - Large aft balcony.  Our cabin steward took great care of us, Phillip our beverage server in the Blush Dining Room also wonderful. We dine @ the Chef's Table with 12 in our group, my husbands treat for everyone for my 50th Birthday! Booked this 3 months in advance. My place card read MS. not MRS. embarrassing! My birthday cake arrived @ the end of the meal and had my last name 1st, and my 1st name last. Clearly someone was not paying attention to detail this evening, my 50th Birthday Cake and photos are now a joke! And we paid over $1000 for this dining experience!  Thanks for making my 50th Birthday so memorable! I have to photos to help me remember.

Awesome Time some improvements needed! by texcheddar

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Cruise its self was a great experience. The Cloud 9 Spa was a total bust. Would not recommend this to anyone. The 75 min deep tissue massage is not what you get. We pre paid for it and had a 1:30 appointment were taken back at 1:40 given a 10 min chat and paper work to fill out and then they returned for the massage, then they were done by 2:23 and this also included a 10 minute sales pitch to sell us their product. Very disappointed.

The Dining experience was amazing!

Very Disappointed in the service and quality by efletch

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

From the moment we stepped on the ship, the disappointment began. My husband and I have cruised over 35 times combined on various cruise lines, and we are platinum members on Carnival. This was not a good experience. Food quality in the restaurant and buffet was below acceptable. The service fell right in place with the quality. In addition to that, the Karaoke system was broken the first night, and the entertainment was moderately okay.  I understand that during Spring Break week we should expect more kids on the ship. However, my greatest disappointment was the fact that not one time was I able to sit in the hottub. I counted 20 kids in one hottub (most under the age of 12) and not necessarily supervised by any adults. They were throwing cups of water over the top of the hottub wall on adults that were walking by. When i brought the issue to the attention of the front desk, they said they would send security up to check it out. I NEVER saw a security person around the hottubs to address the issue.  I was so frustrated. I know kids need to have fun, play and have a week to enjoy their vacation, but I certainly was not relaxed. I couldn't enjoy the amenities, and the staff did not support addressing the unruly and unsafe behavior of the children.  So much for a relaxing vacation! i was more stressed out there than I am in my high demanding job. Definitely NOT impressed with the staff and service on the Breeze.Nervous

The cruise went off without a hitch. My sons enjoyed every minute of it. Carnival is top notch for accommodating  our needs. We will definitely cruise again with Carnival in the near future.

March Break Carnival Breeze by swatsonfischer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Our family had a great time last week on the Carnival Breeze.  The staff were as hardworking and awesome as usual.  (I don't know when they sleep).  The weather was great and there was a good variety of activities to choose from.  The ports of call were all good though La Romana in the Dominican was not a favourite.  It was a nice change to have an evening stopover in the Carribean during our stop in Curaçao where we had a 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm timeframe.  We had been to Curaçao on a weeklong vacation and it was lovely to return, this time as a cruiser.

Carnival is a great cruise line for people of all ages, something for everyone.

Very good Spring Break by The1edge

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

My wife and family are experienced cruisers...25 or so in the last 13 years.  Although we have used most of the big cruise lines, including Carnival, we usually opt to go with Royal Caribbean.  However, with 8 of us cruising (including our three grandchildren 7 and under) during the peak of Spring Break, it was more affordable for us to go with Carnival.  We really liked the itinerary of this particular 8 day cruise, as it included some ports we had not seen before.

All of our 5 previous cruises with Carnival had been good, but we had always found the service, food, and ship to be one step behind Royal Caribbean.  We were surprised and impressed at how much better our overall experience was this time.

The Breeze is a newer ship, carrying around 3500 passengers.  Carnival has done a nice job with their deck plan layouts, and public space amenities...specifically the nice assortment of casual dining options.  During sea days, when we are spending most of the day by the pool, it's nice to have food venues other than just the buffet.  Their poolside hamburger stand was absolutely outstanding...the best burgers and fries we have had on a cruise ship.  They also offer a taco and burrito stand (including breakfast burritos) there.  On Deck 5 they have barbecue stand that was very good as well.  I would give them an A+ for their casual dining options and quality.

For the 8 of us, we had 2 balcony cabins, and one ocean suite.  My wife and I had the suite, and it was a nice place for the family to congregate.  It was very nice, with a pull out sofa, Jacuzzi tub, dual bathroom sinks, and a larger balcony.  The balcony cabins were typically small, but adequate.  The stateroom service for all of us (our rooms were not together, and we all had different stateroom staffs) was really great...again, I would give them an "A".

Our grandchildren loved the childrens program on the ship, and between that and the childrens pool area (which included 3 water slides and many other fun features) we were never at a loss for something to keep them occupied.  Grade "A".

For the rest of us, we all enjoyed the cruise director's activities.  He was truly one of the best we have experienced.  Great sense of humor, and he did a great job of "setting the tone" for his entire staff.  Grade "A".

Our dining room experience was probably the least impressive part of the cruise.  I had assumed that a family of 8, including 3 children ages 2, 3, and 7, that we would have had a table to ourselves.  Unfortunately, they seated us at a table for 10, with a nice couple that only spoke Spanish.  It was extremely awkward for us, and I am sure it was for them as well.  And, although our wait staff was very courteous and hard working, the food was average at best, and often served lukewarm.  I appreciated the waiters bringing the kid's food out immediately, without being asked.  However, the rest of the meal was always very slow, and was likely the reason our food wasn't as hot as it should have been.  For our family, the Dining Room experience is always one of the most important parts of our cruise.  Overall, on this cruise, it was a major disappointment.  I would give it a grading of C-.

The embarking process was quick and easy...aided by the fact that we had a suite, and that gave us preferred boarding.  The luggage handling was very strange.  This ship uses the public elevators to handle their luggage delivery.  On the first and last day, it was nearly impossible to use an elevator, or even to walk through the elevator vestibules, as they were packed with luggage carts. Very odd.  I'm not sure if they have elevator banks just for their crew (as does every other ship we have been on) or maybe they weren't adequate.  Our luggage did not arrive at our rooms until around 8pm the first night.

The disembarking process was an absolute nightmare.  We elected to carry off our luggage (they call it "self assist").  We always have late morning flights, and this ensures we have plenty of time to get to the airport.  Normally, passengers who do this can leave the ship immediately after it is cleared by the Port Authority.  This ship, however, requires you to wait until your deck is called before you can carry your luggage off.  In our case, we had to wait over 2 hours, sitting in the stairwells (none of the elevators were available) dragging our luggage, and trying to keep our little ones under control.  There has got to be a better way of handling this process.  I would rate it an "F".

Even with some obvious disappointments and/or opportunities, I would rate our overall cruise a B+.  And in comparison to Royal Caribbean, in total they are very close...surprisingly close, and 10-15% cheaper.

Review of Carnival Breeze by cybercop503

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

For this to be next to the newest ship Carnival has, very disappointed of the inside looks, the food in the main dining room was not adequate, selections were very limited and the flat iron steak so tuff no one could eat it. Requested fresh made bearnaise sauce and didn't get it. Got this pre made stuff. We paid and ate in the Farinheit 555 2 nights to get a good meal. This is known as a test ship and they had cut back on No Table Cloths except for dress up nights, not as much one on one service. The Sunshine was a whole lot better ship.I have been on over 12 cruises with, Carnival, Norweigan, Princess, Celebrity and Royal Carribbean and this ship rates pretty low. Will not go back on this ship..Loved the ports it went to though.

This was our first cruise and i must say what a great experience!  With all the activities and entertainment on the ship we will most likely keep cruising instead of destinations for vacations.

Nice cruise, staff could use a lesson in service by duckie1210

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Embarkation, easy and efficient with very little "standing around" time. Our stateroon was clean, for the most part, but one of the bathrobes had waded up tissues shoved in the pocket which means they were either washed with the robe and the pockets were never checked prior OR the robe was never washed. We were on deck one and sometimes the sewer smell was unbearable.

The food at the buffet and the dining room was good. Some people complain about it, I think they are being picky. The ship needs new ice cream machines and definitely more than just two stations. I have been on smaller ships with probably 10 stations. One is always available. These? Always long lines and the machines are literally dying.

Decks are crowded (to be expected) and food lines are long but this is mostly because of slow, stupid people in line and not the fault of Carnival staffers.

The worst part, the dining room. Some nights we sat for over an hour waiting for our dinner. Appetizers would come and then we wouldn't see anything for an hour. Our water glasses were filled occasionally and when the waiter remembered.  I think this is due to the size of the ship and the lack of staff. Our first night, my husband got up and got menus from the waiter station because they were never brought to us. We were seated at a table for six but they insisted on squeezing a 7th person on the end. This made dinner at an already crowded table even more uncomfortable. Kids meals showed up almost immediately after they were ordered but our meals didn't arrive for an hour or more. Once the kids were done eating, it was over for us. It became an hour of us trying to entertain them and then eat our meal as fast as we could because our toddlers timer was up.

Aside from that misery, overall the cruise was fun. All the ports were great except La Romana. The port is literally in the middle of the ghetto and the place is a dump. Don't bother leaving the ship that day.

Not what I expected by scott63

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Too many kids were running around without supervision , even at midnight of the night. Kids were knocking on the cabin doors and no security around. We had to call them to send security to our floor. No signs were posted to tell people how to go to gangway, when asked the answer were "oh don't you know". You can't find anybody to ask drinks not around the pool or even in casino, we waited 20 min to soneone to come to take our drink order at the casino table and 30 minutes to get our actual drink. At the buffet one side of the tables were smelling old wet cloth. This is our 3rd cruise with Carnival and 11 th over all by far this was the worst.

Something to please everyone by cwntripp

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise was amazing. There was such a variety of things to do on board. Something to please everyone. Every night there was a different live show in the theater. Amazing! All the food you could possibly want to eat. The drinks were a little expensive though. The staff was amazing, everyone was so friendly. Our steward would of done anything for us. Just a happy, kind man he was. The head coordinator for entertainment was entertaining enough himself. He made the trip very enjoyable..He always had a smile on his face, always got the crowd involved in what was going on. He tried to make a point of saying Hi hugging or shaking hands with everyone on board. If I was to cruise again I would want to find the boat that Mike was on. A little disappointed in our excursion in Jamaica but the other two in Grand Cayman and Cozumel were excellent. Would I recommend this to others. Absolutely! I already want to plan one for next year. Will think twice about booking through . Our travel agent was very friendly but she either lied to us or was not well informed. Maybe they needs additional training. We were mislead in several different areas about the promotion we signed up for. The gratuity was a big issue. If you are told the gratuity is included in your package don't be surprised when you are on your cruise that your stateroom is charged for gratuity. We were surprised when we got out stateroom bill that the gratuity was on there. We were not the only couple mislead by this. The couple we went with was told the same thing. Very disappointed in .When we received our stateroom billed I called from the boat , was told as we were speaking that they credited our account,we still have not received our credit.

Breezing the Carribean by SInglecruiser7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

It was a nice break from the iffy weather of Florida although our ship days were coudy and rainy. The ship was clean and comfortable. The Lido menu for lunch was always almost exactly the same. Lines at Guys burgers were long. Most of the passengers were from the mid west or Canada...and a handful of New Yorkers.

The frequent cruisers were vying for platinum or diamon status....many take 4 or 5 cruises a year.

Great Cruise, Beautiful Ship ! by brucev6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We were very impressed by both the ship and the crew. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. After a hiatus of almost 10 years I wasn't quite sure what to expect since I've read many reviews saying that quality and service have gone downhill. That was certainly not what I found, and if anything I'd say the food was even better. Lots to do onboard, and the cruise director, Mike, was awesome. Our 4 year old had a blast and thoroughly enjoyed Camp Ocean and the water activities.

i can honestly not find anything to complain about ! We had a wonderful time.
