We enjoyed our cruise on this ship 🚢 along with Matt Mitchum as the cruise director before he moved over to The Vista. Matt really did his job! Loved the views from our Balcony cabin!

get what you pay for by familycruisings

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My family of four have been on NCL, Disney, and Carnival.  We typically like carnival because it is the most cost effective.  But this boat the Breeze was a bit underwhelming even for Carnival.  It is very worn down for its age.  The putting greens on the kids golf was almost unusable.  The water slide were not open very much due to "wind".  Build your boat that travels in wind and not think about wind for slides and ropes course, unbelievable.  And this was the first time that our waiters in the dinning were not amazing.  We love that about Carnival that they still seat you in the same place with the same waiter, they usually are a high light of the cruise.  This was not the case this trip.

Great for Value except shopping on the islands by niki1972

Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Carnival Cruise Vacation 6/20-28/2015. If you have time please read the entire review it will be and eye opener. My husband and I were skeptical when friends told us to come along on a Carnival cruise with them. We have heard many negative reviews about this company but we decided to go thinking it will be fun for our daughter. Our group total: 46. Fun onboard (water slides, sports area, karaoke, bingo): very good. Food: Average (decent on the buffet, good hamburgers, burritos, Indian and sushi, but mostly bad on the restaurant at night). Staff was friendly and I do hope that the gratuity they charge to each person ($92.00) is truly given to them, this is extra. The app (carnival Hub) worked most of the time and was helpful. I do recommend having it before sailing away since is difficult to download later (especially for iPhone). For $5.00 per person for the length of the cruise, it gives you the activities schedule, your daily balance, and more. You can chat with your family without having to spend money on internet connection. Excursions: we decided to do them ourselves and the difference in price is substantial. In St. Kitts, a tour to an old sugar factory was about $60.00 per person, we paid to a local $15.00 per person, children under 5 free, and under 12 half price. He took us to the factory, to a garden, to a beach we did not like, and to another beach that was decent and back to the port. Very important that you pay at the end, and if you plan to eat lunch, it takes very long time; in our case, 50 min. for two tuna sandwiches. Our room was big (deluxe ocean view) it had two bathrooms (love it). Overall we were actually surprise that this cruise was better than we thought it would be. On the other hand shopping experience was awful, DO NOT BUY JEWELS or Watches if you do not know all the details. Their return policy is restricted to none or only to exchange for something else with the same or higher value. The prices are inflated so you think you are getting a better deal. The islands have internet connection so check online first for the true value in the USA. We had an awful experience and $4200.00 less in the bank account. DO NOT TRUST, I repeat DO NOT TRUST in anyone (especially the Carnival Cruise shop director or whatever his title is) charming, categorize himself as experienced and having your interest first, but at the end we felt that all he did was sugarcoating, never gave us true answers nor what to do. he did not disclosed crucial information in his workshops, such as return policy, materials use, or quality if the jewels; just check first, ask tons of questions and make sure you know everything there is to know about what you are buying. Make sure you get a certificate of authenticity form a reputable geologist, do not accept a written one. they sell sterling silver with white gold prices. I spend 5 days trying to correct the mistake. hope this helps.

Best Cruise Ever by Tammy2000

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I've been on 5 cruises and this was the best ship by far. The ship was beautiful and clean. The staff we're very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a cove balcony and it was amazing. So many good selections and the food was much better than the paradise. FTTF was a huge time saver. Our room steward was Katut and he didn't miss a beat. He did everything we asked. My only complaint was the amount of time it took to get through dinner. It took an average 2 1/2 each night. Dr E did an excellent job filling in for Matt.

Awesome crew and food! Anytime room service always answered right away and was delivered quickly. Our stewards cleaned twice a day, once in the morning and again before bed. The comedy was amazing! Loved Manny and Tommy! Definitely bringing the kids on the next one. So much to do for both adults and kids.

Best ship, best evening shows ! by bucurestir

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise ship was excellent; service and food was excellent! Ship kept very clean at all times! The crew was very friendly! The sushi was excellent! The espresso bar was excellent! The dinner bread was soo yumi! I enjoy and had a lot of fun overall!

The dinner meals need to be revised on the side dishes to get at least 2 cups of vegetables and not one! I always asked for extra vegetables and I got it! The lobster meal was kind of little but was yumi! A lot of people asked for a 2nd one!

The entertaining director was one of the best on Carnival!

Excellent job!

Great Service and ammenities. by donaldwilliams

Friendly Staff,  Nice Accommodations, Great ports of call.  Plenty of things to do for the entire family on the ship.  Food was excellent. Boarding process could have been easier.  It took almost 2.5 hours to get on board.  We prebooked and had our boarding passes processed online but when we arrived they didn't have my daughter's boarding pass as prebooked so we had to stand in a long line to get her on board.  Other than that, it was a wonderful experience!!!!!!!!!

Nice Boat but Customer Service Lacking by richarks

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I have traveled on several Carnival Cruises in the past and the "Dream" was the nicest ship out of all of them.  The food was very good also.  My only real complaint was the lack of customer service compared to other cruises.  We were told it was "too windy" to dock in Grand Turk and the cruise director reassured us that an itinerary of activities would be delivered to our staterooms for the "FUN" day at sea since we did not go to port.  This ended up being a broken promise.  Our room steward neglected to provide us with any information on debarkation on the last day of the trip which resulted in our missing the flight back home since our bags did not go through customs in time.  This ended up to be a costly mistake due to Carnival's negligence.

Carnival Breeze, Cruise March 2015 by GinaFarmer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Just got back on Saturday from our first cruise on the Breeze!  Needless to say, it was wonderful!!  After reading these forums, FAQ's and anything else I could find, I think I was somewhat prepared.  The cabins weren't as small as I expected, but the shower lived up to expectations!  It was small, but man the water pressure was great!!  There was lots of storage in the stateroom, closets, shelves, drawers, and room under the bed to store the suitcases, and we put our dirty clothes in one of them.  There was storage space in the bathroom also.  We had our fridge emptied so we could store our wine in it.  And the safe was a key code.

We did the YTD, worked out perfect for us.  We were a party of 8, all adults, we never had to wait for a table, and we could time dinner with what we wanted to do that evening.  The food was good.  But the unusual stuff to try on the menu, wasn't really anything unusual for us.  I guess because we are a bunch of rednecks, we had already tried rabbit & frog legs!!!!  Only complaint was that the ice cream servings with the melting cake and pie were in such a small cup?  So we just started ordering 2-3 cups of ice cream!  We thoroughly enjoyed dinner every evening, we liked having a different wait-staff each night, we got to meet & talk to many different people from many different backgrounds.  We enjoyed the dinner entertainment!  It was disappointing to see how some people dressed for formal night.  There were t-shirts, shorts, flip-flops, and everything else you could imagine.

We got the Bottomless Bubbles, it was a good deal for us.  We never did understand why we still had to sign a receipt every time? But, whatever!   We also didn't realize that even though we pre-paid the gratuities, that gratuity was added on to each drink you bought.  We didn't have them taken off, but did hear of other people who did.  Most of the time the soft drinks were flat and tasted old, but there were time that they did bring the whole can and we checked the expiration date and they were good.

The chogging was bad on Sea Days.  But finally the attendants started tagging the chairs and removing stuff.  Then people got mad!  Pools were very crowded, and the hot tubs weren't hot at night!!  But it was still all good, because we were on a cruise!!!

We didn't schedule any excursions ahead of time or thru Carnival.  We knew what we wanted to see and so we just got a van and went to where ever.  At Ocho Rios, Jamaica, we went shopping and to a small water fall.  The people here were almost to the point of harrassment, trying to sell you their excursions, and cab rides.  We went outside of the circle of cabbies and found a van for a cheaper price.  We were surprised at the poverty, and at the blatant nonchalant way they tried to sell you marijuana, and people just walking around smoking it.  Even in Margaritaville!!  We went there for the free Wi-fi!  There was a man at one of the "Malls" with a donkey named "Peggy", a chicken named "Jesus" and a parrot who ate bird seed out of his mouth!  Of course he reminded everyone who wanted a picture that he needed tips!!!  Ocho Rios isn't a place that I would want to make a return visit!!

Our next port was Grand Cayman, it was beautiful.  We secured a van to take us to 7 mile beach, she told us that she would come back to pick us up when we told her to, so we gave her a time, and sure enough she was waiting on us!  This beach was a blast!  We rented chairs for $5 each, then some of us rented snorkling equipment, and some of us took a banana boat ride.  The beach was beautiful.  The drinks were expensive.  But overall the day was great!  We went back to the port area a couple of hours early, got a bite to eat, and did some shopping.  Then we went to port an hour early, the last tender was supposed to go back at 3:00, so we got there around 2:00.  The lines were ungodly!  Plus, it was hot, and of course there are those people who think they shouldn't have to wait with the peons!  So there were some heated discussions!

Next port was Cozumel.  This was interesting!  We took a private excursion,(Wild Tours)  with dune buggies!  It was a blast!  We had a guide and he was great.  Took us to a preserve where there were animals, we held an owl, a macaw, and a burmese python!  Plus we had a Tequila tasting and lesson on production, then saw a Mayan Ruin.  Got back on the road and rode up the coast to a small restaurant on the beach for some good seafood.  Then we cut back thru the city, back to a resort to catch a van back to port.  Again, we did some shopping, then back on the boat.

The entertainment was fantastic!  We saw a few of the Adult comedy shows, and a couple of the Musical shows.  I couldn't believe how many people tried bringing their children to the Adult Comedy shows!  When it says 18+, it means it!!!  The pictures are astronomical!  $22 for an 8X10, and $12 for a 5X7.  And to think that when you leave they are throwing all of these away!  Why not offer some package deals?  We did stand behind the photographer and snap some of our own!    Wrong, I know, but they are soooo expensive!!  They had some really nice specials on jewelry & watches one evening.  I loved the Bella Perini(?) bracelets!  They also had a good sale on the last night on T-shirts.  I was really glad that I didn't have to purchase any sunscreen or tylenol!!!

Guys Burgers was fantastic!  It would be nice if there were more snack options for the night time.  Not everyone wants Pizza or ice cream, and we weren't in our room to order room service.  And there were no tortilla chips for the salsa bar!!!

The Water Works area with the slide was a lot of fun for adults as well as children.  Many people couldn't read the sign for the Serenity Deck, and were promptly told to leave.

Overall, our cruise was fantastic!  We can't wait to go again!  Only 2 people had ever cruised before, so the majority of us were Cruise Virgins!

We used the Carnival Transportation back to the Ft. Lauderdale airport, which was good.  The airport left a lot to be desired, but we survived!

Also we arrived in Miami the day before the cruise, and we stayed at the Fortune House.  The Fortune House was really nice!  And we got a good deal!

I will try to answer any questions that I can, to try to help the next person!!!

Fun is what we got! by Bostongirl88

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Loved this cruise, really. Great cabin, great food, entertainment was talented, great cruise director. One out of two shore excursions were excellent, the other just so so. Started with a lot of rain - five inches in Miami so leaving the port was a challenge to get there and then it was very hard on the Lido deck or any deck to eat or whatever, but we managed, it was not their fault, people, just an extraordinary rain storm. The Guy Burger and Burrito stands are ravingly great and yummy. Glad they were convinced to keep them open on port days. We came back on two ports because it was better than the local fare in Antigua and Nassau. The trip was special our anniversary so we celebrated at the Fahrenheit 555, WOW! A glass of champagne and special dessert were gratis, the rest was $35 per person plus bar service plus tip. But it was worth it!. Regular any time dinner service was mostly great. Pasta dishes were just okay, so the hint is to ask your waiter to recommend a good choice. 90 percent of the time we were impressed. Also did room service on excursion days and it was prompt with good, hot strong coffee and croissants or whatever. The best part of Carnival Breeze are the rooms - bigger than other cruise lines. Been on a few - Norwegian and Royal Carib. Their room attendants never fail to be excellent. Entertainment was good for dancing, music and comedy. Also try breakfast in the Sapphire for nice start for the day, and it is very good. Their Ovation Theater has innovative technology in their sets  - artistic, but even the range of the audience will appreciate the Latin Nights, Motor City, or the Brits all from a very talented group of eight dancers and singers. The cruise director Matt should have his own tv show one of the better cruise directors ever! Only glitch was disembarkation on the second day of daylight savings - many late and confused guests made this very tedious. Sorry to hear that this ship is going to Galveston. Guess all the competition in Miami with the Quantum and others are kicking this new ship out. Can we please try not to hog all the deck chairs, people? I saw very nice attendants trying to put stickers on the chairs that were not being used, but really.....

Good cruise ship by peppermintp123

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean

This is the newest ship that we have traveled on and the nicest to date.  The staff kept it very clean and were very friendly.  Shows for the most part were excellent.  Food was tasty in the dinning room and all day during the buffet.  Was disappointed that there was limited food places open when we returned to the ship from port.  One night we decided to go to the buffet instead of dinning room.  There was only one line open and had the same selection as the dinning room.  The line was very long and we had went there to have something other than what they were serving in the dinning room.  Loved deck 5 where it was a little less crazy than the pool area and had lots of room to sit; shaded or sunny.  Waterslides were tons of fun!  The entertainer at the the piano bar and the band at Ocean Plaza were my favorites.  VERY VERY GOOD!  Cruise director, Matt, was awesome.  Did a good job getting all passengers involved with whatever the activity/show was.  My dislike about the ship was the smoking.  Wish someone would offer a totally smoke free cruise.  It was hard to enjoy performances in the Ocean Plaza with the smoke from the casino pouring in.

Great ship and had a wonderful time by Luvparadise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean

This was our second cruise and our first on a dream class ship.  Our first cruise was on the Victory which is a destiny class ship.  We will always love the Victory because it was our first but the Breeze was just awesome.  Loved the lay out and the ability to walkout anywhere on deck 5 and take a stroll outside on the deck which wraps completely around the ship. This is the big difference in the Dream class ships from other class ships. The only real drawback is if you have a balcony room on deck 6 mid-ship you may be looking right into a hot tub full of people. Most balcony rooms on other Carnival ships look straight down to the ocean but not his one. It does make for a strange evening if you and your wife or husband want to spend a quit evening on your balcony and there is a small party going on in the hot tub.  Other than that, the ship is just beautiful lots of room and the entertainment was great.  We really enjoyed the Red Frog Pub which you have not been on a ship with the pub on it you are missing out.  Great environment, awesome bartenders and the regular music and live music in the late afternoon is great!

Would we recommend the Breeze absolutely, you cannot go wrong!  Just remember if you book a balcony room make sure it is above deck 6 or you will have an audience.

Nice ship, service and food. This was one of our first, but I find that carnival's food and service are better than others, while the room and specialty features are sometimes not the best. I would sail this ship again.
