Carnival Breeze Cruise Family Trip by dcolon

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My daughters and I had the time of our lives. Everyone was so accommodating and kind and there were so many activities that we had no time to be bored. I would do this cruise again. I want to thank my travel coordinator Aime Kimpel for her patience and getting me the best deal. She was so kind and made me feel so comfortable.

Second Carnival Trip by Harvey7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Carnival have done again. Fun fun fun and lots of food. I really don't know what else to say but they know how to party. I thought Valor was big but this takes the cake. For a new ship she was very clean, friendly staff. Hoping to sail on her again sometime in the future.

Wonderful time with friends but not my favorite cruise experience by mollieruf

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a great time celebrating our dear friend's wedding on the cruise but compared to another cruise I took in August with a competitor it was definitely not as nice. Service was sub-par and the food was good but not the best. I wish the boat would have had bigger pools like the one in August. This boat was so big and the pools were so small that we never even swam because it was always so crowded. In the future if I have a choice I will select a smaller boat. These mega boats don't provide as good of an experience. The comedy club was great though as well as the night club. The theater shows were horrible and very disappointing. The dancers were great but the singers were off pitch and just lacking a lot. The cruise director was very funny and entertaining. I was surprised that for the big bingo game on the last day at sea since no one won the $5,000 jackpot the runner up only got $700ish. I wasn't a winner but that seemed cheap. They could have offered at least half that to the runner up. Overall it was a good experience but now I know I prefer smaller boats and not Carnival.

Beautiful ship, I could tell... by dmhjr

Beautiful ship, I could tell it was new when I was on it. Plenty of entertainment on board, we liked the sky course and serenity. Food in the buffet was subpar, but ate my weight in burgers from guys anyways.

Not Impressed by cncarey00

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Well to start didn't like this ship at all - not layed out well.  Couldn't find places easily everything was really spreaded out. Love Guy's burger and the taco bar - these were the best additionals to Carnival's line. Fat Jimmy's BBQ is a joke;it is only open on sea days for 2.5 hrs - you get the impression it is an open air BBQ joint -it is nothing more than a very limited buffet outside.  Not impressed and actually it was so hard to find the place by the chance i found it i was on my last 2 days of the cruise.  Food was not good - Carnival was known for really good food.  We went to the speciality restaurant and had to send our steaks back - they were the spice rub rib eye's - they lack favor.  However, when we sent them back and complained - the chef quickly made it right  the replacement steaks were excellent. Also we waited a really long time for food - dinners were taking 2.5 hrs to complete - it was really ridiculous. Also Carnival has changed so many of their policies and not alerting the guest it is made for an already funky trip worst.  They don't tell you they no longer bring liquor purchased is no longer delivered to your stateroom; so you can't pack it until you are in the terminal when retrieving hour luggage.  Also you can't pick up your liquor until 6:30am. I was looking forward to using luggage valet because my husband is handicapp and that would have made things so much easier - well we never received the sheet with the information in our stateroom and of course when we found out it was too late to utilize the service.  And to make matters worst I was in a group of 13 people 5 which were handicapped - every time we called guest services to get information we were given wrong information. It is a joke - i will never go on another Carnival ship -

The Food Staff and Facilities were Great by jeremiahmorgan1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We took our family on this cruise having never been on Carnival before. We were really impressed with the food as compared to other ships we have been on. The staff and facilities were also great. We enjoyed the sites that we went to. It was a little heavy on beaches so we were looking forward to our Dominican Republic day but the port there was just mediocre. We still enjoyed it, but the selection of things to do was pretty limited. As an idea there might be great value in having a baseball experience at the Dominican Republic since that is such a big part of that island. Anyways, we had a great time overall.

This cruise line is for power drinkers and pot heads! by scotz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was by far the very worst cruise i have ever been on, The food was almost non-existent (Very strict food schedule) Most of the restaurants on board REQUIRE a suit and tie to enter. the buffet was DISGUSTING!, The burgers very greasy, the Pizza was ok and available, Very hard to find water on board to drink there was a few water dispensers most of them were out of service while we were on board. We were traveling with a person in a wheelchair, our cabin door was not wide enough and guest services did not care, most of the elevators were either not working or took a very long time to arrive. The smell of pot was overwhelming on board, This cruise line is for HEAVY partying power drinkers and pot smokers it is not at all handicap friendly, the food is gross if you can find any!, most of the service staff was friendly.

Bottom line: If you do not like LOUD pot smoking drunks do not go on a carnival cruise, I know this was my last with them!!!

Grand times on Carnival by DanDaMan1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Cannot say enough about Carnival Breeze, Freedom, Splendor (I call it the pink nightmare, but far from a nightmare. More like a dream come true), magic & Conquest. Compared to Norwegian Cruise lines, Carnival has them beat 10 to 1. Food and service is so much better. Stewards are a lot more caring. Entertainment is about the only thing that has an edge on Carnival. Have been on 5 cruises and have 2 more already planned. I can never get enough. Don't really care for their casino (way too tight except the first and last night) and too smokey. The destinations are the best and safe. They really try to keep you satisfied and comfortable. I give them 5 stars.

Didn't want to come back! by Missy29615

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I had an excellent time on the carnival breeze.  The ship was really beautiful and kept very clean.  Everywhere I looked there was somebody cleaning.  I stayed in an ocean view cabin on deck one that was very roomy and had 2 bathrooms, which made it much easier to get ready in the morning. Our cabin steward Bond was excellent.  He got us anything we needed and kept our room in excellent condition.  We ate in several different areas of the ship. The lido marketplace had a wonderful variety of food for every meal throughout the day.  It was all very good.  We tried the red frog pub for dinner one night and fell in love with the coconut shrimp and chicken roti.  The sea day brunch was great for breakfast if you didn't want to go to the buffet.  We tried both guys burgers and jimmy so sea side bbq.  The burgers were good but the bbq was alittle below average.  I'm used to good old southern bbq so I'm biased about bbq. The pizza pirate was open 24 hours a day and made the best pizza.  We were assigned to the blush dinning room for dinner. All of the food was very good and the dining room team was wonderful.  They made us feel very welcome and helped 3 of us at the table celebrate our birthdays. The cucina de capitano restaurant was to die for and very affordable.  They also had a great room service menu, even offering stuff from the extra charge restaurants. The drinks onboard were fantastic as always as well as the bartenders.  We used carnival for 2 shore excursions.  We did the vip bamboo beach party.  It was wonderful just lying on the beach getting served drinks and food all day. The beach was beautiful with the clearest blue water and it was private so there was no crowd.  The other excursion we took was the deluxe string Ray city tour. It was the most exciting informative and fun excursion I have ever done. The guide were great about telling us about the life of stingrays and we got to hold them and feed them. Overall I would give this cruise a five star rating.  We had a great time and could find nothing to complain about and look forward to cruising with carnival again soon.

Perfect Vacation for Adults, Teens & Kids.  This has been one of the best family Vacations yet. The service was great, the food was spectacular and the people, all friendly.  I was very impressed with all the activities on the ship and amazed by the cleanliness of the ship.  The crew was cleaning 24/7.  I'm excited to book our next cruise vacation.

3rd time not a Charm on Carnival Breeze by KruiserKop

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

For a company that depends on pinpoint accuracy in navigating the sea, it sure seems to have lost it's way in where they are heading. If you're used to even a glimmer of perks as Gold member or just a loyal customer get ready for a course correction. My 3rd time on the Breeze was a eben flow of disappointment. There are so many areas both big and small that Carnival failed to impress that I'm not sure where to start. I'll start with the little things because those are the things that just get under your skin enough to make things stink but not enough by themselves to motivate a full blown complaint. So they may seem trivial but all together they just leave a bad taste in your mouth. Not that I wanted to get drunk in the casino (never a good idea) but I did have a card for "FREE" drinks while playing games or slots. $800 and an hour later, still no waiter to get me a drink, which could be a good thing because I finally left the casino to get a one on the Lido deck. I tried 3 other times to get drinks while on the cruise and was able to finally get 1 (ONE), UNO, drink for "FREE" Day 1, Miami, 1pm, Deck 10 Aft. You've finally arrived on the ship and you and your kids have bathing suits and ready to enjoy a little Pizza, a cool drink and the rear pool. FORGET IT!! SMELL, ohhh that SMELL, Pool/Jacuzzi area smelled like sewage the entire trip, and it made the Pizza Pirate and Tandor's an unattractive option. Pool was closed and they were sanding and refinishing the wooden seats around the pool. Saw dust, yellow caution ribbon the smell of stain mixed with sewage; yep you get the picture. What's up with the Carnival's ability to keep the Jacuzzi's open. It was like a cruel game of Russian Jacuzzi roulette trying to figure out which one be open and which would be down for maintenance, again. Lido Market Place Buffet makes any Golden Corral look like a 5 Star restaurant. Anyone remember the surf n turf or midnight buffet's?? Well at least you have the memories. This buffet barely makes a mark as a viable food option and is a repetitive unimaginable collection of tasteless food products. Breakfast? And if you imagine some biscuits and gravy with that watered down tasteless yellow stuff they call eggs then stay in bed, you'll be disappointed. I've never seen any poorer choice for breakfast options than on the Breeze. A single testimony to the overall shape, direction and state of this ship. SAD. Sapphire or Blush dining? well the wait staff are probably the high point of the experience. I had the Flat Iron Steak; bland no taste. The Filet Mignon tastes more like a pot roast and the Prime Rib was overdone and flat. So that covered 3 nights. The Lobster tail was decent and we loved the creme brulee! Staff: I thought we were on the Zombie ship, I'm not sure how you keep moral fresh and new on the Breeze and I don't want to know. I'm on vacation. However, I wish the senior leadership would figure it out. From the staff in the casino to the Lido Marketplace they seemed depressed, out of phase somehow. Housekeeping: we did get towel animals 2 of the 6 nights, but at 9pm my kids are ready for bed and they hadn't even gotten to our room on several nights; was nice enough but I don't think she ever knew our name and I think I saw her twice. No ice bucket in the room, no perks like shampoo's razors etc in the shell dish like all my other cruises (I heard they phased this out) and the balcony was not cleaned. We hand wiped it down a bit. Room Service used to be free, now I'm seeing more and more options under the "for additional charge" and less on the "free" side.. Perks: well I'd say if you like a PIN for all your loyalty then your in luck, if you want to use your "free" drink coupon then you better be savvy as it can only be used under strict conditions and don't think of using it in the dining room or before the last day or before 5pm etc. Want the welcome back drink with a few snacks, forget it. Any other benefits pretty much evaporated and if there availble be prepared to fight for them and wait and wait to use the; otherwise watch the blue cards get the same benefits as your gold. Camp Carnival/Camp Ocean this has devolved into a poorly run corral of kids with angry attendants that seem better suited to be jail keepers than camp carnival leaders.. My kids have grown up in Camp Carnival and this by far was the worst. Want one of may examples? OK, here goes. We stopped by to find out what games were on the PS4's and we got an angry "We have a Pay Build a Bear Session right now" and " come back during PS4 Time" and "They will find out when we begin" uggggg!! WaterWorks, well it needed work alright, compared to our trip in January 2015, so many items had quit working it was unreal.. Even the Big Bucket worked only some of the time and we had 5 days of calm seas.. Pictures: well they sure work hard to get you to take your photo's but have no system for retrieving them. Thursday night my wife spend an hour going through boxes of thousands of photo's to no avail. As it is, I have a spot on the Ultra Cruise in December that just happens to be on the Breeze so it's one more trip on this Ship and if things don't improve it will be my last.

Last on Breeze and Last on Carnival..

Our First Cruise by zhiwei35

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Being a first timer on a cruise is a little scary not  knowing what to expect. My knowledge of cruise ships has been limited to some of the negative things you hear about on the evening news. Also mixed in with positive things you hear from friends and those who go on cruises on a regular basis. So just to let you know... I was overwhelmed and pleasantly surprised how enjoyable it could be. There is too much to write here,,, so for your own good get over what ever is holding you back... take a deep breath, find your own adventure cruise experience and just do it! Chances are you will enjoy it.

Good Cruise But Would be Easily Made Better by Ddancers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Our personal rating Based on over 40 past cruises.

Every Cruise will be rated differently based on likes and dislikes, who your waiter or room steward was etc. Cruise Lines all have an object to try to insure that everyone has a Great experience. So if you see negative reviews that you disagree with take it with a grain of salt, because in the long run everyone will benefit if the cruise line makes an effort to address any reported issues. By doing so the overall rating and individuals experiences will improve.

1) Cabin/Stateroom From (1- 10) = 2

When we got to the stateroom my wife immediately was upset due the layer of dust on everything. She proceeded to start dusting with one of the towels, and it was obviously very dusty.  Later when  we were going to turn in for the night she noticed the bed sheets were not changed from the last guests use. This was obvious due to some human hairs on sheet and the lack of having a clean feel. I preferred to sleep on  the balcony that night. It's likely the cabin may not have been use the previous cruise and service was bypass for this stateroom. Stateroom was a reasonable size ,but lacking  in some areas like  no shower door, and the air conditioning  system worked poorly. Woke up nights due to room being  too warm.

2) Room Steward From (1- 10) = 8

We asked the steward  to change the sheet the next day and he did. . We ran low on soap, but that was replenished on request. In general the steward did a Very Good job.

3) Ship Quality (1- 10) = 6

Overall the ship was clean and even though waves were higher than normal the ship handled it well. Has a good number of venues,  but not in use as often as in the past Carnival cruises.  The Wifi service was poor at all three offered  cost levels and often disconnected. Room movie prices were very reasonable.  Ship did not have the same Wow factor that other ships the same age or older have. As mentioned by others, at times there were foul odors in halls due to plumbing  issues.

4) Embarkation/Disembarkation (1- 10) = 5

Embarkation was a bit slow going from one line to another, and we heard a lot of other complains, but we've seen worst. Disembarkation was lacking in some areas. Example when purchasing a luggage to airport transfer package you were not informed that you needed to purchase  separate bus tickets for yourself. Also control of different time groups was not maintained. However again we've had some worst experiences.

5) Destinations and Excursions (1- 10) = 9

We only book two , but were very pleased with both, however we recommend you do your homework and check reviews on any you plan to take.

6) Service and Staff (1- 10) = 6

The lines for service desk were always very long. Personnel however were always pleasant and tried to be helpful, but did in many cases have a language barrier. Lower rating is mostly based on under staffed help desk and language barrier.

7) Entertainment (Show) (1- 10) = 6

The type of show offered were not high end, but in line with Carnival Offerings. Due to this we did not attend any, but in fairness to expectations gave then an inline comparison rating.

8) Venue Entertainment (Solo Bands) (1- 10) = 8

Some not as good as others, but in general Very Good. Special recognition to Run For Cover w/Sarah we would rate this group as a 10 for Quality of Group and interaction by Sarah with the audience.

9) Food and Dining  (1- 10) = 7

Food better than average taste and quality, however lack of variety and  not often served Hot.

10) Specialty Restaurants (1- 10) = 10

We dined at two Fahrengeit 555 Steakhouse  And  Cucina Del Capitano, both were Excellent in Quality and Service and we feel Fahrengeit 555 is a must do.

Totals - 2 + 8 + 6 + 5 + 9 + 6 + 6 + 8 + 7 + 10 = 67  out of  100 or 3.4 Stars = rounded down due to 5 star limits to 3 Stars

Summary

We had an enjoyable cruise, would we sail the Breeze Again?  - Only if offered at a great bargain price.

Awesome way to reintroduce my kids to cruising by twangster

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Took my kids on a Disney cruise many years ago but they were small enough not to remember it now they have grown up. It was time to take them on another cruise and I selected the Breeze.  With my son over 21 we both bought the Cheers beverage package.

Before Vista launched Breeze was Carnival's newest ship.  Having been on the Dream I sort of knew what to expect on this class of ship and the Breeze didn't disappoint.  Guy's Burgers was a bit hit with my kids and we ate there many times.  My daughter enjoyed the '3D' thrill theater although I found it in need of some repairs - broken seat, glasses falling apart, etc, but we used the pass to visit it many times and saw each short film.

The Breeze breaks free of the traditional coral colored room theme and it is a welcome change.  Our spa balcony cabin on deck 11 had convenient access to the spa with a separate entrance with spiral staircase.  The spa was a great way to ease away the day and put me into a relaxing mood before bed.

My kids have different tastes and I was able to spend time with each of them always finding something to do.  Our only excursion booked through Carnival was the Bob Marley tour and we all loved it.

While not quite a mega ship the Breeze is very large but we never 'felt' the crowds.  I like the wrap around promenade deck that goes around the ship entirely outside.  A great way to walk off some of that food.  Many Carnival ships have forward public decks and this is one of the things I really like about Carnival ships.  Again the Breeze doesn't disappoint with several forward decks at different levels.

The Breeze was the perfect way to re-introduce them to cruising and my son is anxious to go again, especially if I'm paying Happy
