Very Enjoyable Trip! by kaviaq

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Chosen for the itinerary, this cruise did not disappoint! We booked a mini suite (MD) class cabin which we thought came we certain privileges only to discover that they really didn't. It is nothing more than a balcony cabin. Our cabin steward, known as Nono, has been fantastic, as frankly, have the rest of the staff throughout our cruise. A notable exception, strangely, is the "customer service" staff at the desk. They really have a "couldn't care less" attitude even when I was trying to compliment the crew! The food has overall been good. Exceptional at the Crown Grill and Plank's. Just good most other venues with a few examples of not very good, usually at the buffet. They have tea, coffee, water, and lemonade available most of the day. Service is better in the buffet area than we've seen on other cruises where the staff is more interested in your enjoyment than in selling you something, which is a nice change. They do a great job bringing your drinks and clearing the tables quickly, always with a smile. The International Cafe has delicious soup, sandwich, and dessert choices at no charge while there is a charge for their coffees. We found the pizza spot, Slice, and their burger bar, Salty Dog, to be okay. This ship must have a world renowned "Fry Captain" on board as the french fries throughout the ship are universally fantastic! We found the entertainment to be a little bit lacking for our tastes. The Princess Theater is a bit uncomfortable to sit in for more than about 45 minutes as the seats are a bit too close by row. We enjoyed several of the smaller gathering options nice such as Laura Callaghan in the Wheelhouse bar in the evenings. You will find great service in all the bars without exception. One drawback to the Medallion Net option is that it seems to actually slow the process of buying drinks currently but maybe that will change over time as I believe the concept will work similarly to your door unlocking and recognize the wearer from a distance. Who knows? This ship has a nice variety of pool options to choose from with a total of 5 pools and many hot tubs throughout. I enjoyed the gym though it is a bit limited in equipment options compared to other ships we've sailed. It has a good selection of weight machines and a nice dumbbell area. They open at 6 am though you're asked not to use the treadmills prior to 8 am, presumably so as not to disturb sleeping passengers in the cabins below. You can, however, use the other cardio equipment including eliptical machines. They have a nice spa area but don't try to constantly force treatments on you. They offer an unusually great sauna and steam area for all clients with no charge. These actually get hot as opposed to many others you might find on other cruise lines and even most resorts where they have them but they don't really become very hot. Our favorite ports were Cartegena, Costa Rica, and Grand Cayman and the Panama Canal piece was very interesting. One of the greatest benefits we found on this ship was the internet. For very affordable price, we had unlimited internet which allowed almost seamless usage of our phones and other electronics throughout the cruise. Many may not like this as they may prefer to unplug while cruising, which I get. I was essentially able to continue working as though I were in my office without interruption while enjoying a fantastic cruise at the same time, which gave me a sense of comfort. Cudos to Princess for investing in this technology and for getting it right!

Locks of Love “Panama Canal 2018” by Hughesfest

Ports were great- Panama Canal experience was awesome. Make sure if you are going to Cartagena- the time is longer than 6 hours. ( traffic can be terrible).

We went out for the... by sterld2126

Sail date: /
Ship: Caribbean Princess

We went out for the third time on this ship in the last four years. She is a wonderful ship that is beginning to show her age. With that being said. She is such a wonderful and elegant ship that we just adore her. The MDR was wonderful and the waitstaff we had for dinner was wonderful. They took our order and just happened to be there to refill glasses/cups just in time. Never had to worry about a thing during dinner. Now breakfast in the MDR was at times hit or miss. Not bad food. But more so the service isn’t up to princess’s standards. The room was great! A in steward was awesome. Casino host was perhaps the best I have ever had. They were always out front and well seen at all times. They even bought a round of drinks to the tables on several occasions. Great personal and very knowledgeable about games. They decided to bring the Medallion online for this cruise. I love this concept. The cabin doors always open no fumbling for room key cards. Ordering drinks was simple as opening the app. Then boom in 3-5 min drinks were being delivered. Yes it needs some work. Yes it is a new concept for cruise ships. But YES absolutely a plus . Fantastic idea that will provide a valuable service one passengers become accustomed to this. Only reason for four instead of five. A few times we were given incorrect information. And when questioned about it I was brushed off. And the breakfast served in the MDR isn’t quite what we were accustomed to in the MDR for dinner. But overall couldn’t be more happy. Bravo princess you have done it once again. We are princess cruisers for life.

Worse cruise we ever experienced. Bar none. by plentyofcruses

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Very bad cruise line. I have taken way too many cruises not to know when I'm getting burnt. Checked statement day before embarkation, $360. was about right, statement in door embarkation day, $985. on my debit card. They refused to discuss. After contacting line, denied my claim of being over-charged. Note to cruise line: if we (2 of us) drank that much, we'd be dead. Had my $$ and wasn't giving it back. Will Never, ever, under any circumstances, (even a free cruise) take another Carnival Cruise line ship, yes, Carnival owns Princess, AIDA, Costa, Cunard, P&O, Holland America, and Seabourn. Take your money else ware and have a good time and great food, please do not settle for the drek of the cruise line industry.

Terrific Caribbean Cruise by beckyjp

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Thoroughly enjoyed the Caribbean Princess, it was our first Princess cruise and will not be our last. She is an older ship but still a grand one. The service was excellent, everyone was friendly and outgoing. The food in the Main Dining Room was great, did not like the buffet food at lunch, did not eat dinner at the buffet so can not comment (breakfast was good). We did the wedding renewal ceremony and Princess did an excellent job., would recommend it.

This was my first and last cruise. I really thought a suite would be a special time but sadly disappointed.

Panama Canal Cruise! by keithb82

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

They are still working out the Princess medallions and IT personnel were on the ship working on it every day. They'll get it tuned up eventually. I wanted to see the new Panama canal, and from that aspect it was great. An ex-diplomat narrated the transit, and after an hour on the PA system it got old.

Panama Canal Bucket List by srn0h0h

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Because it is a longer cruise, it was a VERY quiet cruise due to age of cruisers. Our group age was 64 to 56 and we felt like children.

Fabulous Caribbean Cruise by elmame

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I had been in this ship in June. I got the same cabin I love it! Balcony on the Lido deck. One second to the pools pizza, ice cream and the buffet! And one flight up to the gym - which is fantastic - great views. Great new equipment , sauna, steam room. A small adults pool ! They had to change the itinerary because of Isaac. But I loved the new ports and the 20%gratuity for the next cruise

Great ship, but the “World Marketplace” food venue was a disaster by Putz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Caribbean Princess new food concept, World Marketplace, was in my opinion a huge mistake. Much of the food offered in this new venue was sandwiches and salads and other strange concoctions. We gave up on this new buffet style after a few days and ate nearly all meals thereafter in the main dining room where traditional cruise food was available. Great ship, great crew but the Marketplace buffet will keep me from returning to this ship. Other passengers also shared their dissatisfaction with the buffet. Princess Medallion WiFi on this ship was fantastic

Even with an itinerary change... by eazybreezy

Sail date: /
Ship: Caribbean Princess

Even with an itinerary change due to the storms I really enjoyed every single port we visited. I also really enjoyed the dining options and service was great throughout the cruise. What I wish is that I really listened to the reviews that said Princess caters to an older crowd. My husband and I are in our late 40s and found the activities or lack thereof BORING! We took advantage of a few days of R & R but at some point there should have been something fun to do for those under 65yrs old (no offense) this boat offered nothing! I did not want to partake in knitter & knatters, nor did I want to join the choir, or enter a paper plane contest. We even tried Skywalkers Club a of couple nights but that was a bust as well... maybe 15-20 ppl each night. Were it not for on-demand in our room and the drink package all would have been lost... so for all those on the fence trust when I say this boat caters to a much older crowd.

It was a really relaxing time, the entertainment was great, it was unfortunate that our itinerary was changed but I would rather that than go through a hurricane. All crew members were courteous and friendly.
